Wow, this could have been an opportunity for a good discussion, but good grief everyone is so quick to speak and accuse, and so very slow to ask questions. I could honestly see both points and think if we could respect each other and LEARN more about each other, then we may be able to show others something about the true body, the true church. We could show others what loving each other honestly looks like, but honestly what would you think as a nonbeliever (or pre-believer as my pastor likes to say) if you came here and saw all this pointless bickering? We are called to be of 1 mind, and that can only happen in truth.

I just did an Emmaus Walk, and it was awesome. Yes I study every day, yes I have my church and we love each other and all that, but for 30 men to come together, I had never met any of them, but yet we all came together in His name. All different denominations, different backgrounds, different skin tones and nationalities. I NEEDED to see that, it's so easy to get comfortable in our own nice safe little worlds and to grow complacent, but we cannot forget what we are ALL called to do and be different than this world. I know we have to grow towards Him, I know it's not always nice and neat, but we NEED each other and we have got to learn to talk together with respect and understanding, this schoolyard bickering is just sad. I know I am the worlds worst offender, but I want to be better, and I want to see the love Christ has given every Christian reflected in the Body, even in the internet communities. I am just saying we need to show love to each other, not always agree, I can show you love even if I disagree, and if I truly love you I will hear out your view and honestly think about it, because I may have something wrong you could teach me the correct way, or better perspective. Knowing it all is also a very dangerous place to be.

I just want to say I love y'all, and pray you all have a great day. :)
Thank you Jim, always lovely to read your lovely posts :) Much love to you and yours!

And even like each other......... at least as applies the sentiment to my feelings about you.

Depends on the day :p Joking, joking. I think we're like steel on steel sometimes but Ive seen your heart often here and I know what the Lord means to you and your wife and that you are sincere and want to reach out to others with His love. I consider you a brother and sister in the Lord.

My wife and I saw this movie this afternoon. We both thought that it was excellent and highly entertaining. Biblically, I could not find any fault with it and recommend it to others.

No, but where we went, they do have fully reclining leather-like chairs.
We went to Tyrone Mall in Pinellas Park to see it. Fully enjoyed the reclining leather-like chairs.

I read the book and I had a hard time getting through it. Not because it was bad but I guess I had a hard time separating myself from the story. Every parents nightmare scenario and I just couldn't stop thinking of my own children. What would I do? Maybe that was the whole point of the book, sorrow, anger and forgiveness. I don't know. I might go see it I'm not sure yet.

You are right in your estimation that the whole point of the book was sorrow, anger and forgiveness. Remove anyone of those 3 things and you would not know about the love of God. The same is true for the movie as well.

I really liked the book. I read it back in 2008 or 2009. I gave it to my mom to read too. I had to tell her to make sure to keep reading after the first part because it was really hard (and sad) to get through, but it would be worth it.

She told me she was glad I told her in advance otherwise she would not have continued reading it.

I have read a lot of books that aren't exactly considered orthodox but still christian and I liked them. Like Frank Peretti's stuff.

Saw the movie this afternoon and loved it. It was so uplifting in parts and I agree with Willie on how we try to put God in a box with our thinking about Him.

Dealt with a lot of issues and I loved the cave scenes with Wisdom.

Was weeping when he dealt with forgiveness. Tourist has never seen me cry in the time we have been married (over two years) and he didn't see me do it this time either cause it was in the dark and I wasn't making any sounds.... But tears were rolling down my cheeks and I was wiping them away.

Just loved it.... A must see.

I did say to Tourist that I wished we could get the Atheists to go see it because it dealt with a lot of their issues too....as we were driving away from the theater....

I think that if this movie helped even one person to get to know God better and start reading their Bible the movie being made is well worth it. There are so many who could be helped by the message they are trying to get across about God.

Theologically does it match up to what I believe 100% no, but I looked at it and watched it from a stand point of could it help lead someone to God and yes I believe it could do a lot of good.

As far as me not believing everything I watched just means I read my Bible, but the main jest of the movie was about God and what His character is like.... and a man dealing with crisis in his and his families lives.... Fantastic movie.

This movie is probably the one movie you should not miss, if you go to no other this whole year.

If the movie is about spending time with God's family then who are you people????

Just saw the movie this afternoon.

There are those of you here who will FREAK at this movie, and probably curse everything about it.

And then, there are the people here who will see Jesus as you have often prayed the whole world could see Him. This movie is probably the one movie you should not miss, if you go to no other this whole year.
Did not know it was out already.

If you read the book, how well did the movie retell it?

It was pretty close, but of course, with considerably less detail. The book had more impact.

As long as it normally takes for a movie to go from theaters to DVD, I think I'll try to get a copy of the book first. I wasn't aware that this movie was based from a book until this thread was started, and I have always preferred books to their screen adaptations.
