My all time favorite....God doesn't give you more than you can handle.

God doesn't give you more than you can handle.. I'm sorry, but I totally do NOT believe that.. :/

Hehehe the parental "where did you leave it last?" To quote Tim Hawkins, "I'm sorry I was looking where I left it FIRST."
This one! If I knew where I had it last it wouldn't be lost and I wouldn't be asking now would I! LOL

Sometimes God gives us more than we can handle because we are under divine discipline. It's suppose to hurt and it does. This is one of the ways He gets our attention and brings us back to a state of humility.

"Forgive and forget" -- easy for someone else to say, but we have memories so we can't forget.

Christian cliches should be avoided at all costs. They tell everyone you are an idiot who is content with superficiality.

You need to just get over it (concerning my life situation) Healing doesn't happen overnight in many cases.

I'll be praying for you. Honestly that one gets thrown around alot and doesn't happen. I have to be careful myself not to say that if there's any possibility of me forgetting to pray for the person.
Thank you for mentioning these. There are way too many callous people in the church who figure that if they're not going through something themselves, a trite dismissal of the issue is in order.
As for the "I'll pray for you" line, if the number of people who have uttered this to me actually followed through, I would likely be far ahead of where I am now. A sure way to detect who is lying in this regard is to notice if they ask about your issue the next time you see them. Oftentimes they won't.

My pet peeve are two comments Christians throw at you when a loved one dies..."They're in a better place" and "call if you need anything" which are both code for "Im too busy to help you through your grieving process so dont bother me with it.I'll salve my conscience by bringing by a plate of cookies which should cheer you right up and you'll be over it when I see you in church next Sunday".Extremely so, a pet peeve for me.
Quite often, there isn't even a plate of cookies involved.
Christians, unfortunately, use a lot of code for, "I'm too busy to help you."
