You came very close to another dream job of mine. I'd love to make signs/business marketing items on paper for a living, but I want to truly create them before doing the printing.
Well most of it is pretty simple, alot of the signs I print out are pre-made, I just have to print them out and organize them by section, and then put them where they go. The ones that I do myself, I just scan the item and use the product of the info on my handheld device to type out simple signs, like product name, what kind of deal it is, original cost compared to lowered cost, ect. Its nothing too complicated : p

Its mostly just how much we get, we get ALOT of signage, especially during the holidays (I work in a fairly large store). As well as price changes and everything else. And I have to gather together all the paperwork, figure out what goes best where, making sure everything is visible and shop-able, that every product has enough tickets, ect ect. Im told that I will be allowed to pick a helper for December, though. So that will make it easier Im sure : p

I wouldnt mind creating my own signs, like you said, but I dont feel I have the experience to do such a thing. Like I can make a BASIC sign, but like an ad made to catch the attention of the shopper, I have no idea if I could do such a thing, haha.

Oh, come on and get real! Everyone knows the Cardassians want to take over the universe. It's not that classified!

I think Cardassians are my favorite race of all the Star Trek tv shows. Not cuz I think theyre good and I want to be like them or anything, but they are the most fun of all the villains Ive seen on that series : p Theyre like a mix of Vulcan and Klingon, theyre intelligent but arent all uptight and annoying. I had alot of fun with DS9 : p

While I agree with you, one must also buy food, and we are to do that with the sweat of our brow.
And I have done that!

2 Thessalonians 3:10
For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.

1 Timothy 5:8
But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

It is good to have a job.

My age is showing. Handheld devices, not print screens?

And, I used to go over to the artists' room at the advertising agency to watch them draw bread so pretty it looked like you could smell it. She took four days to draw that bread too... from a photo. (Not sure why the photo wasn't enough, but I wanted her job, but she had art school background to make sure it looked right.)

But I learned about fonts and kerning back then. I forgot 99.5% of what I learned about them, but I got into making just the right sized writing for a business card -- small enough to fit, but big enough to read. Back then, they needed to use a dark room for lettering in catalogs. (There was a word for that, but forgot it too. lol) Lettering is something I wanted to do in my home-based business, except the desktop computer was coming to everyone's home about then, so no one needed anyone else to do their business cards anymore.

OR, better yet, for you, some still do, because inkjet just doesn't do a professional enough job.

Signage really is an art-form. And printing it out without everything leaning to one side of the paper is too. (Forgot how to do that too, although I'm sure it's not done like it was back in the 1980s.)

I bet you didn't think anyone would be impressed though. I really am.

There are many things people have said they do for their living on this thread that impresses me.

You're idea of not uptight is different than mine then. They always looked like "atennntion" meant "at ease" for them. The best they did for chill-laxing was to prop their jackboots on a desk, (and only if they were high ranking) with a glass of wine in their hand.

Haven't seen the series in years, but the one Cardassian store owner/spy was the only one I liked, and I only liked him because I knew he was up to no good but with a smile on his face. At least he enjoyed himself.

Yeah, its just a little scanner that tells you the product info, I use it when typing into the computer what I want the sign to say : p

Haha, yeah its automatic, I just have to hit "center" if I want it to be centered, its pretty easy : p

Yeah, I guess thats what I mean. They were very formal, everything was in order and they took pride in it. But at the same time they had their duty, but outside of that they were regular people. Like the Vulcans put on that face 24/7, but the Cardassians can make jokes and act like everyone else. I dunno, I thought they were really neat.

And haha, yeah the tailor, Garak I think. I like him alot, both him and Gul Dukat (had to look up these names), the two of them were probly my favorite characters on that show along with Odo. But yeah, you can never trust anything Garak says, you never know whether or not hes honest, or if theres any hidden meaning in what he says. Hes a master of deception, haha. DS9 was definitely the most interesting of the franchise, imo.

Yeraza,

bet if you just be yourself, you could 'keep pace - or maybe even out-shine' the
common denominator',,,you need to learn how to acknowledge that 'great-big-dose',
that your Saviour has blessed you with...step-out'...

me and hub love Lynn's, 'stepping-out', - to us, her 'un-self-conciencesness!?, come on,
how many people have you EVER KNOWN that DO THIS, in THIS WAY??? really!
this is just one time:rolleyes:...

she 'actually filmed by herself and acted-out 'story-teller/big-bear + was sole communicator
for 'everything in the film', 'she', was 'playing ALL characters at once', while 'filming'!
but, this wasn't, 'disne-itsy'...it was REAL, and oh so 'REFRESHING'! for those who remember,
we, for the (3rd. time), have ditched the 'boob-tube', we are so OVER our ADDICTION NOW!!!

what Hub and myself loved most, after her, was the 'amazing and magnificent GARDEN' that
Lynn had created: to us, it was AWESOME, considering her and John's health/home conditions'...
even this kind of limited-space-garden' takes 'hours and hours and hours of attention in order to
get any king of productivity, 'lots of a special kind of Love'?...
yes,
we Love her: she not only planted her garden in order to partake, eat of 'real food-herbs', but also,
she even planted 'certain things', so that the 'insect-bee-butterfly-humming-bird-other birds
and things' could take a share from her and break bread..!?!

so what if she says that she's 'no LADY'?!?!?

hey, after 'conversion', we are shown how to live 'in and out' of the world, and yes,
it is a 'great challenge, not attainable without being 'called-out', chosen, elected...
carnal would call this a 'burden'// -
we call it being embraced/liberated/extracted by The Power of The Holy Light/Spirit...

My friend was delivering in South Philly. It's not an easy job, since most of our blocks have 25 houses on one side of the street. (Rowhomes.) And since they keep the mail in the truck until they can get to it, that means delivering to 50 homes before getting back to the truck.

He was rewarded for his good work by being sent to 30th St. Station. (The big post office in Philly.) And then he was "rewarded" again, by being in charge of 19103 -- our downtown/skyscraper section of the city.

After all that "rewarding," his wife had a complication with her pregnancy. Her thyroid produced a goiter big enough to stop her from breathing. (It's rare, but it was related to being pregnant.) He had to take two days off to be with her for the surgery, and then two days off when she delivered a couple of months later. He was scolded and threatened with loss of job, if he used one more sick day ever.

And that's why they moved to Buffalo, so he could be a supervisor up there instead. lol

I have a FB/writer friend who works for the post office in Ohio. Some of her other friends work with her. I maintain that the medical field is one place I would never work for. I keep forgetting about the post office. Not sure which one I'd hate more.
When I was in the Military, I had a good friend who was from South Philly. He described it as a very rough neighborhood!
