How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!"

(Isaiah 52:7)

1 Corinthians 15:19-20

In this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable
But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first fruits of them that slept

[h=1]Luke 7:38New King James Version (NKJV)[/h]38 and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil.

This is how I feel. I am so grateful and almost can't believe His Grace.

Eze 47:12 And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.

Many important scripture verses are on my mind. I memorize them all when I newly accepted Christ. Thats what asian christians do. I bet you all in the west don't do it

Don't know about everyone else in the West, but I don't have one single bit of scripture memorized. I don't consider Christianity to be a contest, and in the hereafter, my lack of rote memorization of verses isn't going to matter. I'm not impressed by people that memorize scripture, and that's the only reason I can see that people want to do it.

This is beautiful...
Romans 8:10
And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness

If you are not familiar with bible verses, how can you do witnessing for Jesus Christ? and how can you resist devils plot like Jesus did?:)

some is cultural difference, and some is environment - here, our belief is not persecuted, and we always have ready access to the scripture, to read it, without any fear.
there is a mix - many people, like you, memorize much, so they can always be ready with it, and so it will always be on their mind. others don't, and each has his own reasons.

i grew up encouraged to memorize much, and i have much hidden in my heart, because of this - though i'm not so good at remembering chapter & verse, but the words themselves. also, now later in life, because i read it much, and have read it much, it remains in my heart & mind. so, because i was taught to memorize verses, and also because i love them :)

it is good, to have the Word to remember in your thoughts!
i'm glad to hear that you memorize much of the scripture, and you are right to encourage us to do the same :)

I believe that by memorizing important scriptures will assist you in deciding swiftly what to response when you are under spritual attack. Like Jesus did when He was tempted by Satan after fasting for 40 days. He used the word of God as his weapon:eek:

Then again, Jesus is the Word. Probably didn't have to memorize...

re you saying Jesus will tell you out of sudden what to say, which bible verse to quote? Well you can try that but I stand being corrected that memorizing scriptures is still the best option.

...No...? I'm responding to what you said in your last comment.

...Maybe you're used to contention? Not sure why you responded the way you did. You don't know how I feel about memorizing Scripture, you just know that I don't see why Jesus would have to, being the Word Himself.

Be careful about your assumptions.

"I have hidden thy Word in my heart that I may not sin against thee." Psalms 119:11.

These are for me, and shpadoinkle since you have your 5 bibles on the shelf and you haven't memorized any yet: (Galatians 5:6-9):

"Here's the thing: In Jesus whether you are circumcised or not makes no difference. What makes a difference is faith energized by love. Who has impeded your progress and kept you from obeying the truth? You were off to such a good start. I know for certain the pressure isn't coming from God. He keeps calling you to the truth. You know what they say, "Just a little yeast causes all the dough to rise," so even the slightest detour from the truth will take you to a destination you do not desire."
