(echad) means one in Hebrew (woachad) in Arabic; It means there is only one god.
The words of god and his laws are forever and his contract with the Jews is forever also.
“Mankind is born of the flesh and the spirit is dead.”
How did it happened that the spirit died?
I do not recognize that quote. I will say this: People can live with, or without, God's Spirit. If they choose to live without it, they are dead. By that I mean, they are not living by the truth.

I was paraphrasing Desertrose and I also asked how it happened that the spirit died.
Romans 5:12
Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned.

Ephesians 2:1-5
And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience.

Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.

But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

Colossians 2:13-15
When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

Hi, Zohar.

My understanding that we are not under obligation to adhere to the old dietary laws and rituals of the Old Testament. I would recommend that you read the first half of Acts chapter 15, where the early church grappled with this very issue. As far as Jesus' own commands, the gospel of John is profuse with them. The main one's is to love the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind and strength; and to love our neighbor as ourself. Later he said a new command he was giving us, to love one another as he has loved us. We obey the Lord's commands not because we are still under the Law, but under grace, and because we love him because he first loved us.

I read the Old Testament and the New Testament and I couldn’t find where GOD says to abolish the law. Many Christians calls it “the old law”; as we all know god is forever and his laws are forever. Christianity was changed and developed into a Roman/ Greek understanding of god. The Romans and the Greeks had gods that had sons and daughters and they interacted with humans.

We believe in one God. Some believe in a Trinity that includes three entities, but my understanding of the Trinity is that there is one God who simultaneously is a Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, just like my dad was simultaneously a father, son, husband, and lawyer.

There are many statutes and ordinances in the Old Testament, which apply to the method of worship, which many of us Christians believe were meant for the Jews, not Christians.

But the Lord’s commandments (the law) apply to all people.
