Thanks everyone, the weakness in my leg doesn't seem anywhere near as bad
this morning.

I'm still in pain though, good job I have an iPad mini, I'm currently reading your comments while pacing
around my bedroom.

Willie l will try the exercises I know I need to do more of this kind.
I decided way back in June i wanted to be a fit 50 year old.lol
So since June I've been dieting and lost 12 lb by mid August when i did my back in.

I had already decided I wanted to get exercising more, so got a mat, a roll and some
stretch bands etc. But before I could do anything my back went. :(

Blue you are amazing :)

Ive got a friend who has pain in both hips caused by Bursities. She was up last night in
pain as well and text me Proverbs 3 & 4 which she got, especially Pro 3 v 8. I'm
going to look up this properly later.
My wife and I both know we absolutely have to do extensive stretching EVERY SINGLE DAY before we even get out of bed. My wife is at the gym right now, where she pays $277 a month for a trainer who puts her through Hell. Her sister is 81, and because she is into this stretching, big time, still does marathons... although now she does them walking instead of running.

I have that sometimes. I'm a truck driver. The Lord led me to some stretches on YouTube. Look up yoga for sciatica. Now I'm not talking about getting your Zen on. Just stick with the simple stretching. About 20-30 min a day does wonders
I do hope you know to keep NOTHING in your rear pockets when driving? Nothing.... I don't care how thin you think your wallet is.

Well I went to the docs this morning, he gave me a sick note for another week
and upped the painkillers.

I'm now on ibroprifen 400mg
paracetomol 1000mg
Codeine 60mg
all taken together every 4 hours.

On that the pain goes completely but starts to return just before the next dose is due.
it also makes me feel very spaced out and very tired.

So the last dose I tried tonight, I had the above but with 45mg of codeine, it didn't fully take
the pain away but I wasn't as drowsy.

So it's a toss up between pain free all day and in bed sleeping all day,
or still some pain but being able to function.

I think I will go for the latter, besides I still have my Aunt's needs to think
about. I can't care for her if I'm in bed all day.

I have prayed for you Miri that the pain of sciatica is alleviated to the point where you will be able to have quality of life. I also prayed that your employer is understanding about your condition.

Yeah I've got a sheet of exercises and I've also downloaded some additional
ones from the Internet.

Maybe folks could continue to pray for me if you don't mind.

Ive been doing stretching exercises at least twice a day morning and evening.
It has felt more comfortable for the last few days. Then yesterday I thought I
would do some light house work (I've had to put that on hold for 4 weeks and I won't even
tell you how long the grass is now. Lol).

I took my time and took a break inbetween the housework, but in the middle of the night I woke
up in a lot of pain and had to get some more pain killers to get back to sleep. Also this morning
I'm in a lot of pain. :(

Im trying not to have too many pain killers during the day as they make me tired and I
really do need to go back to work next week unless something drastic happens. So I'm
sort of testing to see if I can do without them or drastically reduce them and find
another way of dealing with the pain. Plus I don't want to get addicted to the codeine.

Right now though it feels like I have a tight elastic band running down the side of my
leg and its being pulled really tight. This feels very achy kind of like a throbbing
tooth ache.

The burning pain in my shin has eased off to about half but the whole front of my shin
and lower leg is numb and tingly with electric like shocks every so often.

The doctor suggested it was due to a pinched nerve somewhere - a type of peripheral
neuropathy. Apparently it can take several months for the nerve to heal. But I'm
sure God can do it quicker than that. So prayers would be much appreciated, especially
as I've got to tackle the bathroom and wet floor shower next! :)

From personal experience, ibuprofen does diddly squat to relieve sciatica pain. Miri, the "electric shock" you mentioned, I never had that with mine. My whole leg felt like it had a vise around it that was being tightened and loosened and tightened again. What happens with a herniated disk is, it can bulge out so far that it touches the nerve if you move the wrong way, then yowsa!! Out of this world agony, so excruciating I can't even describe it. You say you haven't fallen, so it may NOT be a herniated disk. Like the doctor said, it's more likely that a nerve is being pinched.

That being said, there's a REASON why the nerve is being pinched, and the doctors need to find what's causing it. Pinched nerves don't unpinch themselves. Nor do they get resolved by heavy narcotics..

Hi Blue thanks for your concern, I can only really go by what my doctor told me, I've
seen two, both my own doctor and one at a walk in medical centre. Both seem to think
the sciatic nerve is the problem, which as you say can get squeezed, inflamed, irritated but the
specific symptoms vary from person to person depending exactly where the pressure is.

If it doesn't improve other the next few weeks then I will go back. I did find the following
link which suggests various causes including sciatica and other causes. :) In my case
walking around eases the pain, it's worse when I sit down so sciatica seems the
more likely explanation at present. Hopefully it won't get any worse.

Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.
Proverbs 4:23 NKJV
http://bible.com/114/pro.4.23.NKJV

A merry heart does good, like medicine, But a broken spirit dries the bones.
Proverbs 17:22 NKJV
http://bible.com/114/pro.17.22.NKJV

All the days of the afflicted are evil, But he who is of a merry heart has a continual feast.
Proverbs 15:15 NKJV
http://bible.com/114/pro.15.15.NKJV

Most important thing, keep your heart. It's easy in times like these to get broken down. The Word , worship and prayer. I prayed for you, hang in!
