Okay well to break the monotony of the reoccuring Bible Dicussion threads I figure we all play a game. I personally find games to be a good way of learning and I always been a big fan of trivia type games. So I figure we will play a little Bible Trivia to help learn about the Bible a bit more and to just have some fun.
Now the intent of this thread is not any sort of theological quandry thread, we're just having trivia. So save you theological questions for another topic. This way anyone, even our non-Christian friends can play along too. I'll impose some simple rules here to try to keep us on track.
Basic Rules:
You will answer the person before you and also give the verses that support your answer and then ask your own question
All questions must pertain only to a Person, Place, or Event in the Bible.
All answers should be backed up with the Bible verses
You are allowed, and encouraged to use google or your own physical copy of the Bible to look for the answers
(here is link to Biblegateway for a resource BibleGateway.com: A searchable online Bible in over 100 versions and 50 languages. ).
Questions should be somewhat specific and not too vague so that they can have a definitive answer
No trick questions or theological questions, trivia only.
Example Questions and Answers:
Example Person Question: Who said "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do"?
Example Person Answer: Jesus
Luke 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
Example Place Question: What town were Mary, Martha, and Lazarus from?
Example Place Answer: Bethany
John 11:1 Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.
Example Event Question: In what event did Peter, James, and John see Jesus talking to Elijah and Moses?
Example Event Answer: The Transfiguration
Matthew 17:1-3 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, [SUP]2 [/SUP]And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.
So you can see my basic idea here for the thread, remember this is not meant to be a theological topic, merely a trivia game for fun and learning. I shall start us off with a fairly easy question.
Question: What was the name of Apostles James and John's dad?
