God loves us with an everlasting love. He sent His only begotten Son
to die on the cross for us. God made Him Who had no sin to be sin for us,
so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.
I spent much time, (cause I'm slow, lol) writing a post for another thread, and when I went to submit it, it was closed! Aarrgghh!!! Lol.
Since most of the same folks are here, including the mod, can I post it here? It still applies, and is in agreement with magentas post here, and I hope it encourages all, but just delete if this is improper, I don't wish to violate :
"No person on this earth can fulfill the greatest commandment - but only One did - Jesus Christ our Lord." (Quote)
Did any of the Israelites and strangers who joined themselves to them keep covenant with God perfectly without ever committing a sin ? No. Did that mean those who did not walk away from God never received life and salvation ? No. They received salvation because they were faithful to Him.They did not abandon God but they cleaved to Him and repented of their mistakes. In the same way we are to cleave to Him. Not casting away He's instructions, which keeping is the expected end of repentance through faith. But clinging on to Him with all we got, showing God that He's faith He has put in us is not in vain. We cannot do and live how ever we want. Certain defiled people are not going to enter the kingdom of heaven if they give themselves over to the fleshly nature and live after it instead of the Spirit of God. Sin is the transgressions of the law of God, and it is by what is contained in the law of God that every ungodly sinful person is going to be judged by. Therefore it would be of great interest of the devil to make sure that as many people as possible defile God's commandments as much as possible.
A: You keep putting yourself under the old covenant. Why?
'Joined themselves to keep covenant with God?' Old.
Try the New Covenant : God made covenant with Himself on our behalf in Christ.
Then said He, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He takes away the first, (covenant), that He may establish the second. By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
B: They received salvation because they were faithful to Him?
Try the New Covenant : He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? (God is the faithful one)
For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.
C: Clinging onto Him with all we've got?
Try the New Covenant : Being confident of this very thing, that He which has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.
Much more then, being justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.
