Brothers and sisters in Christ, please let us refocus and keep the thread centered on words of encouragement for those who need help with weakness and temptation. May we keep one another lifted in prayer to the glory of God.
I believe if we identify the temptations and then posts scriptures or reasoning of why those sins are harmful, it can help people resist giving into temptations.
The temptations I most often see here is:
1. Judging others negatively
2. Partiality, preferential treatment of those you like
3. Driving need to be right and respected
4. Desiring to be heard more than to listen
I am sure there are more but maybe if we address these with scriptures it may help?
1. God doesn't want us Judging others because we are all still works in process. We can address their beliefs but unless they know we love them as people, our words are but clanging cymbals. (i can post scriptures later if needed)
2. We should treat all with love and respect even if we personally don't like because God says bless our enemies, pray for those who curse us for God makes it rain on good and evil people alike. This teaching goes against our human nature and what the world teaches.
3. Wisdom from above is yielding. Sometimes it better to drop the topic and pray for the person disagreeing with you, than continuing a discuss where the person is defensive and irrational.
4. If everyone is yelling to be heard, who is left to listen?
Anyway, those are my thoughts because I am tempted to yell to be heard, fight to be seen as right, favor those who are kind to me and judge others harshly.
However, God tells me that is not His ways, so now I just read and pray.
I still think this is an awesome thread Utah.
It is a new day. Why do people still hold onto anger?
If you don't lay your anger done at the cross every night, you give the devil a foothold into your mind, heart and life.
I have bible verses for that spiritual truth too.
