Having a new gym in a school would cost a million dollars.
Growing up I found the Christian churches did not teach or have Christian libraries for Christians so I bought my own library worth of books in order to teach myself what the Church would not teach me.
Why are the number of radio stations secular on the radio dial today? Because Christians did not put their money into developing a method of communicating the gospel.
I went to christian events at colleges and when I told the students the truth, they looked at me like deers in the headlights because you pay some pastor to teach and no teaching goes outside of the Church.
I look at teachers like Harold Smith who preached his whole life and there are probably 100 or less of his sermons available on tape because the money went out the door and all of the teaching wasn't preserved to teach future generations.
Less than two cents on every dollar given at church ever goes into missions.
So why should I give when money isn't used to preserve teaching and money doesn't go into missions?
I should pay for the pastor's retirement though, right?
Does your church have a library? Why or why not? It means they don't care about the lost and teaching doesn't go outside of the church very much. I was at a church that told me I couldn't spend money on evangelism but they bought material instead of develop it themselves.
The world is a mess because our churches are a mess.
A couple of points.
Every church I have been associated with or have a personal knowledge gives at least 10% to mission work.
I know of one that gives over 50% to missions.
I will repeat what I said before--There is a mission field just outside your front door--Probably 80 to 90% of those who live in your neighborhood are lost--How much time do you spent taking the Gospel to them--That does not cost a dime, just your time.
The Lord's churches are not commanded to build schools, gyms, librarys, or multi-million dollar "church" buildings' They are commanded to preach the Gospel.
If you are led by the Holy Spirit to go do mission work, follow the example of Paul. Step out on faith, find a job where you are doing mission work if necessary. Don't worry about your retirement. Don't beg others (churches or individuals) to suipport you.
Now about my church.
We just began meeting in Dec 2015. We now have 11 in our group. We meet in homes. If and when our numbers are to large for homes, we will rent a small meeting place, than a larger meeting place etc.
We do not ask nor do we need anyones financial help. We pay our own way. I am now serving as Pastor. And no, I do not get paid, I don't need any pay. I live on my SS check.
Stop complaining, put your shoes and coat on, step out your front door and get busy. Your neighbors are dying and going to hell.
