There is only one teacher - God the Father. He might have you witness to me, or me witness to you, but we are not reliant on our fellow human beings for knowledge.
Poor Holy Spirit gets shafted to the side of the stage.

Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
Joh 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Joh 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
Joh 1:5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

2Ti 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Jesus is the Word made Flesh and by making it/Him part of our lives we are transformed.

I think some people forget that the purpose of the Bible is to lead us to the Lord – not the other way around.
1 Corinthians 2:14 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.

Therefore you need someone to explain the spiritual things of God to you because your mind cannot accept it.

Acts 8:30 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?
Acts 8:31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
Hey Chuckt how are you?

You know, I thought would be sort of a strange place to leave out what is both right before those two verses and what is after them though, because right before that the Spirit himself is actually directing Philip to the eunuch's chariot in Acts 8:29 Where the eunuch is reading about Jesus Christ in the book of Isaiah right there (he just doesnt know who he is reading about because everything concerning Christ had just come to pass as they prophesied it would) and a name has been given men (Isaiah does not speak the name).

But there was nothing spiritual at all in any of that really but his reading out of Isaiah 53:7 which was speaking of the sufferings of a man (even Jesus Christ) as the prophets do testify to this( John 5:39, Acts 3:18, & Luke 24:25-27)

But per the OP's words about the scriptures leading to the Lord, or the other way around (faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God) and here we have Philip (led by the Spirit) using the testimony of Isaiah (who is one who prophesied of the sufferings of Christ) to preach Jesus Christ (who is the word of God) begining at Isaiah 53:7

Because the eunuch's question was really simple, who exactly is this prophet talking about?

Acts 8:34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee,

of whom speaketh the prophet this? of
himself, or of some other man?

And obviously Philip knew this was Jesus being a living witness to the testimony of the prophets (which testified of Jesus Christ) which is the name now given of men and where the voices of the prophets find themselves in.

The very next

Acts 8:35
Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus

Which scripture?

In Acts 8:32 it shows he is reading out of the book of Isaiah 53:7

The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth...

And again that is where he preached unto him Jesus (as that man) the eunuch asked about.

So there really wasnt anything spiritially speaking there because that is what is plain. Afterall Paul said to those who had come to Christ (who were babes in Christ) having believed, but yet carnal that he just couldnt speak unto them as unto spiritual as he could those who were so (even though they could get the basics concerning the sufferings of Christ, him being crucified, buried and raised again on the third day there were spiritual things they had yet to gain through use.

And in the next few verses (give or take) is basically the eunuch asking what is keeping him from being baptized, and Philip saying, if you believe you may and so he was.

The next thing we know in verse 39 ... the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing

Thats all that it really shows there though.

They seemed to be far better at preaching Jesus Christ out of the OT (to prove he was the Christ) then they are today.

God bless you Chuckt good to see you again
