Scriptures interprets Scriptures.
Yes it does. 1 John 1:8 -
"If we say that we have no sin, (PRESENT TENSE) we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, (PAST TENSE) we make him a liar, and his word is not in us."
1Jn 3:6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
Sinneth not (ouc amartanei). Linear present (linear menwn, keeps on abiding) active indicative of amartanw, "does not keep on sinning." Present (linear) active articular participle "the one who keeps on sinning" (lives a life of sin, not mere occasional acts of sin as amarthsa, aorist active participle, would mean). Sinless perfection is not taught here.
So, if a person knowingly and willingly obeys satan and not Jesus how are they abiding in Christ?
So, anything short of sinless perfection to you equates to obeying satan and not abiding in Christ?
To Abide in Christ, is to DO what He says, to obey what He commands, to Live and Do what He says for us to do.
The word abide means to remain, not to depart, continue to be present. It doesn't mean sinless, perfect obedience 100% of the time. To do what Christ says and obey His commands is the fruit of abiding in Him.
Which can be summed up by this: Love One Another. If you do that, you are abiding in Him, because He is LOVE. If you are LOVING one another, you are abiding in Him. If you fail to Love One another, you fail to abide in Him. If you Fail to Love One another, you sin. Why? Because Jesus Commands us to Love One Another, if you fail to do what He commands us to do, then you commit sin.
1 John 3:14 - We
know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death. 1 John 3:10 - In this the
children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever
does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother.
Joh_15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
Amen!
Do you ask and receive not, maybe it is because you are NOT Loving One Another.
Or you ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures (James 4:3).
Joh_15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
The Greek word for "keep" is "tereo" and means - 5083 tēréō (from tēros, "a guard") – properly, maintain (preserve); (figuratively) spiritually guard (watch), keep intact. It does not mean sinless, perfect obedience 100% of the time. We are not sinless/flawless/absolutely perfect 100% of the time.
Those who keep His Commandments are they that abide in HIM. What are His commandments. Scriptures interprets Scriptures:
1 John 2:3 - Now by this we
know that we know Him, if (demonstrative evidence)
we keep His commandments. 4 He who
says, "I know Him," and
does not keep His commandments, is a
liar, and
the truth is not in him.
1Jn 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 23 And this is his commandment, That we should 1) believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, AND 2) Love One Another, as he gave us commandment. 24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
This is the
demonstrative evidence that we do abide in Christ. Deceiving ourselves by saying we have NO sin (present tense) is not the demonstrative evidence (1 John 1:8) that the truth is in us.
Scriptures plainly teach us what it means to abide in Him. Does not matter what i think it mean, or what you think it means, or what they think it means. Scriptures plainly teaches what it means.
Yes, Scripture plainly teaches what it means to abide in Him (
properly, maintain (preserve); (figuratively) spiritually guard (watch), keep intact and Scripture also shows us the demonstrative evidence of those who abide in Christ, but Scripture does not teach sinless perfection.
