Something I think most of us struggle with is understanding grace and who we are to God. We all sin we all fall short we all screw up and that sometimes leads us to start seeing ourselves as filthy sinners we feel ashamed imagining God looking down on us with disappointment we beg for forgiveness but many times we don't truly feel or believer we are forgiven and so we have a low opinion of ourselves and I wanted to explain both these things for those who struggle with such issues
1st grace
The word "grace" in biblical parlance can, like forgiveness, repentance, regeneration, and salvation, mean something as broad as describing the whole of God's activity toward man or as narrow as describing one segment of that activity. An accurate, common definition describes grace as the unmerited favor of God toward man.
The point of grace throughout the bible is that even though we don't deserve his grace his grace is overflowing on all of us
the scriptures say this
John 1:15-17 (John bore witness about him, and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me ranks before me, because he was before me.'”) And from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
Hebrews 12:15 See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no “root of bitterness” springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled
Romans 3:20-24 For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it — the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus
our sins and our screw ups are such a heavy burden on his, I know how it would feel so freeing so wonderful to be free of such a burden to know that we forgiven and that our sins do not define us anymore to be seen as sinless in God's eyes due to the blood of Jesus even though we are not sinless. Even many Christians long for this not even knowing this is exactly how it is they just have not realized it. Even I myself struggle with this it's like I am so stubborn to accept this that I need it drilled into my mind before I accept and believe this, we need to understand that we are not filthy sinners we are not screw ups we are not losers we are his children who he loves accepts and deeply cares for just for who we are
In my next post I want to talk about who we are to him
