What I don't get is why do we have to buy a licence for it after July 29th? Why isn't it free like every other version of Windows? Stupid Microsoft!!
You always have to buy a license when you buy Windows standalone. Other versions of Windows are not free.

They must be free. I didn't have to buy a license when they brought out Win8 and 8.1.. I didn't upgrade then, either..lol.. I still have Win7..

You lost me.

Windows 10 uses your existing Windows 7 or 8(.1) license for the free upgrade, as long as it's genuine. After the free offer expires, when/if you buy Windows 10 (or any Windows), you're paying mostly for the license. That's how Microsoft rolls with their operating system; most of your money goes towards the license, not so much the media/software.

Well, I don't plan on upgrading to Win10. My computer is 5 years old and I still have Win7 on it. I've heard bad things about 8, 8.1, and 10..

Im fine with 7. It works fine for me. I have gathered the download #s that are windows 10 and they are blocked. I dont want it and Im tired of their deceitful download message "important update" when it is just another windows 10.
Why fix what isnt broke? My personal opinion is windows 10 is just another tool to gather more information.
When I decide to change systems it will be apple. Ive had it with microsoft

You got it! Also, I was gonna do some research today ,if I get the extra time, to learn of new ones they have come up with within the last month. They are always added new numbers. Cant imagine why they would do that! rolling eyes...........

There are pros and cons to all of them. Sticking with 7 is fine while it's supported, which it is until January 2020.

Yeah I can see where we need 5 yrs advance notice............
Keeping in mind that since 7 is now past basic support and into extended support, you may be charged for some support issues. And that after July you'll be charged for the upgrade to snoopware 10.

Well, it just wouldn't be the end-times if Artificial intelligence didn't also beat us in natural stupidity, right?. I have Windows 10 on my laptop, but I run my Mac at home mostly and haven't installed that yet on there. Life would be so much easier if only I had the Source Code. Oh, that's right , I'm a Christian I do have the Source Code; I think those old-timers call it the 'Bible'. Smile. Don't get me wrong using any computer version for me has been a stroll in the park -- the only problem has been it's been Jurassic Park so far! There are some things I like about Windows 10, but none of them outweigh another to the point if you have a 7 etc.. I would need to change it. I haven't had too many Windows 10 disaster stories yet, but then again I use it only in School.

May 2016 to January 2020 = 5 years? :p

It's helpful to some, particularly businesses.

have it. hate it. :/

as soon as he has time, my genius son-in-law is going to switch it to Win 7.

stick with win 7 as long as you can, bluebug. win 10 tells me i must have administrator permission to delete any files it uses to spy.... and i AM the administrator!
Last time Windows told me I could not delete a file, I booted in from a Linux disk and deleted it without Windows being able to do anything about it. No stupid program is going to tell me what I cannot do with my computer. I can wipe out the whole system and install something better if I want.
