"yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist." (1 Corinthians 8.6)

"We believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of all things visible and invisible; And in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, begotten from the Father, only-begotten, that is, from the substance of the Father, God from God, light from light, true God from true God, begotten not made, of one substance with the Father, through Whom all things came into being" (Nicene Creed 325, excerpt)

It has long fascinated me that the composers of the Nicene Creed opened by naming God and Christ in a way that directly parallels Paul's confession in 1 Corinthians 8.6. Did the bishops who framed the Nicene Creed utilize 1 Corinthians 8.6 as its foundation, and expand upon Paul's confession? What are the Christological implications of 1 Corinthians 8.6?

I think they did. Though the Bible itself and alone is sufficient to condemn Arianism.

It's an interesting history.

I like the nicene creed. i recite it every Sunday. i like the apostles creed also
some believers, and many multitudes of (billions)
heretics all over the world recite it. "their lips appear to serve God, but their hearts are far from Him, denying with their lives the power of the Gospel..."

and every day the rcc around the world destroys many souls and kills many people. every day.

The Nicene creed say begotten, not made

Although the apostles say,

Gal 4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come,
God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

They seem to be less nuts about the use of words

Which seems just as allowable as this is...

Acts 13:33 God hath (( fulfilled )) the same unto us their children,
(( in that )) he hath raised up Jesus again;
as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son,
(( this day )) have I (( begotten )) thee.

The apostles use both words whether
made of or begotten

The apostles dont say, begotten, not made

The Word was made flesh (coming in) and yet begotten (( the day)) he was raised up from the dead

(( This day )) have I begotten thee.

So I never got why that was in there

The Nicene creed just seems a touch more word sensitive then the apostles were (as far as I can see)

And your proof of this atrocity? You threw it out there. Where is your proof? Are you being God again? You have no proof and are a liar!

the proof is readily available for those who seek it. for over 30 years i saw the atrocities of roman catholicism, and it is the most destructive to life thing on earth.

and GOD'S WORD said it would be so, and it is.

on this site, no proof of the heresy is needed again - the reformers provided more than enough if you look for the truth.

as long as you are trusting in the HERESY RCC , the religion condemned by YAHWEH HIMSELF,
you have no light inside of you. just utter darkness and lies.

there is no chance for catholicism or for those who trust in it.

hey you cut and paste. Good for you. Once again where is your proof of this current death and destruction you have charged the Church with? Oh that's right, you think you can just say anything and its true! I really think you have mental issues. You can post this heresy bs all you want, doesn't make it true!

Duhh. The Nicene Creed is biblical written at a time before Rome developed her distinctives.
Jeff56, where is there error in that Creed?
Rome prays, does that mean you cease praying?

Besides this thread is about comparing the Creed to 1Cor8:6, not about Rome's heresies or whatever.

p.s. someone in the heresy brought it up... i.e. 'rome'... and nothing can help rome, per se. rome is destined for complete and utter destruction, no matter how long or hard they pray to their idols, no matter how many things they recite.....

EVERYTHING the rcc does is evil wicked and pernicious, just like the same ones who Jesus confronted and called them sons of the devil. they could do no good , except repent. if they repented they could be saved, yahweh willing.

Rome? you mean the rcc? heresy, yes. they honor God with their lips , and deny the power of salvation (they aren't saved). like the OT prophets, they can cut themselves all day and all night long, and their false idols will not answer them.

they eat food too, but it does them no good. they still die in their sin, unless they repent.

if GOD permits, pray for them. some are sinning the sin that leads to death - they like it and they want it and they hate GOD. let them go.

pray for those God lets you pray for, as often and as much as God allows or guides you too.

in line with GOD'S WORD always.

Forget Rome for 5 minutes and explain where you see the errors of the Nicene Creed.

the abomination is rome , even if they speak the words "jesus christ" they are lyars lying!

The following is excerpted from The Martyrs of Jesus--
The Roman Catholic Church is not Christian; her precepts contradict the Bible repeatedly. Nowadays, it can be heard that the Roman Catholic Church gave us the Bible--but she actually burned Bibles and them that translated and believed the Bible (witness William Tyndale, a good and a great man). Rome is full of heresies (e.g., Mary remained a virgin) and blasphemies (e.g., the mass--many died for not believing this). She has killed multitudes of Christians. She has maintained her blasphemous reign as the so-called "church" by force and deception--not by the truth of the Bible (which she publicly railed against). The Bible reveals who Rome is and is therefore dangerous to her. Why is she posing as the Christian church? False religion is a money maker. Her doctrines/teachings have enabled her to collect wealth, delicacies, adoration, and power for centuries on end. Her doctrines are made up stories consisting of various elements and superstitions and pasted together with some Bible names. Even one of her popes said that the Roman Catholic false Christ (her transubstantiatable "victim,") is a made up fable. When the Roman Catholic "Church" speaks of Christ, it is speaking of its own invention, not the true Christ. That is why her doctrines are diametrically opposed to the Bible, they have been made up over centuries of time. One can find dates when various heresies have been added to the pot (infallibility of the pope, assumption of Mary, etc.). The Bible speaks of people who preach "another Jesus" (2 Corinthians 11:4)--and Rome is in that category.

you don't see anything.
if it was possible for you to know the truth, you and your family might have a little hope to live.

as it is , you trust in the same demons as the rcc, condemning yourselves.

Now this is hilarious! You don't know God's word, you just know how to cut and paste and moan and groan about Rome!
