I was meditating on these verses ...

Matthew 6:31-33
Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

and while I meditated on them I remembered times where they were proved to me.

I have had agencies, friends and neighbors appear at my door with food boxes and clothes boxes, out of the blue ... just when they were needful.

And meditating further ... I remember times when I was consumed with the word and work of the Lord. And CONSUMED was not an exaggeration. When I was first baptized I sat and wrote a dissertation called "Why serve God?" for 16 hours straight. I would not even have taken a moment to eat or drink if the Lord had not stopped me firmly midway and told me NO ... I'M NOT GIVING YOU ANOTHER WORD UNTIL YOU GRAB A QUICK BITE TO EAT. I took five minutes - then when I sat down again I was filled again with His power and went another 8 hours.

I also recall another time where I was consumed with the same type of work - some Bible study that went on for days I think. Again at one point He just stopped me and said - GO FOR A WALK THROUGH THE FOREST. Again, kind of reluctantly, I submitted, and felt much better for it. I was refreshed upon my return and very grateful.

I felt compelled to post this thread because I remembered how good God has been to me personally - Just like a loving parent ... caring for my needs even when I would neglect them.

God is good!

Please share some PERSONAL experiences you have had with God taking care of you PERSONALLY ... Let's show him some gratitude by telling the world of His wonderful, sweet, loving, nurturing nature :)

thepsalmist, what a blessing to read your post dear one....

we have learned, over many years, to keep our minds on things that are above',
if we don't learned to over-come our concern and worry of meeting our physical needs,
especially those that we believe we can't live without, we deny the words of God,
for we are so much more important that many sparrows....

Thanks so much dear friends ... You make me smile with your visitations. :)

So true ... not only do "we deny the words of God" ... but also we rob ourselves of the blessings of a greater faith. God surely blesses us when we submit to His Ways and Will with joyous and eager hearts

Hugs~

Just recently, over the holiday weekend in fact, I was wanting a bolero (crop) sweater to wear with my dress for Sunday. I had looked during the week but hadn't found anything . . . man, I was really wanting this bolero sweater! I got up Saturday and the thought came to me "Sears" . . . I hardly ever go to Sears but I went. And there it was - my BOLERO SWEATER! I found two, couldn't make up my mind so I just thought I'd get both. They were on sale - anyway . . . I got two bolero sweaters for less than I would have paid for just one! I love when God does little things like that JUST FOR ME!

Amen! Yes, He surely does! :)

That brings to mind what God said about testing Him by bringing the full tithe in ... He says he will pour out so much blessings we won't know what to do with them all :)

Give Him as much of our time as we can,
Give Him our minds put on things above to learn,
Give Him our hearts submissive, soft and open to His love and direction
and we shall surely be blessed!

Care to share an experience with us EG? :)

Great thread my friend:)

The God of the OT:

"Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest." Joshua 1:9

Is the same God that tells us today:

"...
he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." Heb 13:5b

Let us rest in His promises. Man can break promises, but God never breaks his(ie: Titus 1:2) Amen!

I've been miraculously spared much evil and destruction: the Lord has always had my back, even when I didn't know it was under threat. I've always had everything I need. I've always felt loved and had hope of the Lord, despite what anything or anybody in this world would do to try and make me think differently. The Holy Spirit has shown me what were once mysteries and wonderful truths, directed me where to find the answers, and to know who was of truth, and who was not.

I can't say too much of an entire lifetime of living His tender mercies, in an entire world largely merciless, with evil men and evil spirits gnashing at we frail and weak men, things we have no weapons against, as individuals, but the Lord. I'm still here, despite everybody who got their shorts in a bunch over Christ in me! Is that not a hoot, all praises to God, who overrules, where evil rules?

This says it all, of our great God and Savior,

Lamentations 3:22 It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

At the same time, doesn't say enough, of the wonders of the Lord.

when I was stationed in the UP of Michigan, Me and my wife went through a rough patch, I decided I was going to trust God he would supply our needs

Week after week. Money came in the oddest ways, No matter what, we were able to pay our bills. Be it a check where we overpayed someone before. or a check from a parent just to say they love us without us asking or mentioning money issues, to money found in a dresser drawer we did not know was there.

God supplied, and you could not say it was just coincidence, He left no doubt it was supernatural

I used to worry about many things in my life. Many times I would wonder how I would make it the next day, week, etc....but one thing struck me each time after God provided for each need which I had doubted. Has He ever let me down? Even once? How many times do I need a good reminder of His grace and provision. He is patient with me. His grace has really taught me so many things throughout my life. My thoughts of God can be summed up:

"
O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!" Rom 11:33

What a wonderful testimony :)

All that God does for us is truly unfathomable ... like you said...

He knows us better than we know ourselves ... and gives us things we would never think to ask for, and protects us from dangers we did not even know were pending.

I too love how the Holy Spirit is like a lie-detector for us. Keeping us from swallowing false-doctrines. And in the few times when God has allowed it, he makes us spit it up. lol :D

To God be all the glory! :)

Praise God!

Since I have been reborn I have never wanted for any needful thing ... He is our provider!

I've heard testimonies of Christians giving all their money away to help someone and being left penniless only to have God give them twice or ten-fold what they had given, when they needed it themselves. :)

An cup emptied for another is a wonderful thing to God ... he will always refill it and then some. :)

Indeed ... I often give thanks to Him for His great patience with me...

We all have moments like that, where we are struck with worry or fear - but that has a silver lining to it! I'm convinced God allows a measure of that for good cause ...because it reminds us of our own fallability, weakness, and limitations ... and reminds us that we NEED GOD above all else :)

Peace n Love~

I can look back on things as a child, on hindsight, where the Lord had to be there, watching over me, so many, many details we can't be aware of where He is at work, certain we only see a small subset of His mercies.

The Holy Spirit is a real lie detector, indeed is very much spiritual eyes and ears, is our Godly spiritual awareness. He shows us the things of God, God's truth, and He also gives us discernment of evil. The Holy Spirit: don't leave home without Him! (Folks, had to change that ad slogan, please, the Holy Spirit is not "it," but He.)

Yes, to God be all the glory. To us, we be, despite ourselves. God's Riches At Christ's Expense. Praise His Holy Name, Jesus! (And really cool, inspired thread idea.)

This is what the Lord brought to me when I was in the midst of a terrible circumstance that hit me out of the blue.

There is grace for what we need that day. There is no grace for worries or thoughts that are not true. There are "facts" and then there is the Truth. The Truth supersedes "facts". The truth is who God is to us and who He says we are because of our union with Christ based on His finished work.

I have come a hair's breadth from horrific death so many times in my life that I am surely and fully convinced it could only have been God that saved me so that I could be reborn in Christ.

How can we thank God? How can we ever thank God as He deserves???

Simple ... we cannot.

Putting God first certainly pays dividends... If not now, in the next life. I've learned the hard way that doing things my way brings no blessings. Keeping the Lord foremost in our minds & hearts is the only and best way to go through life. While it doesn't always assure an easy time, smooth sailing, trouble free, or no hardships, its certainly worth remembering that our faith is often tested through adversity. Blessings are nice, but what speaks to me the most is when I see other Christians keep the faith even through troubled times.

It's appropriate not go into exact details, but I've had a few instances where I was shielded miraculously from certain death, before my eyes, have actually been allowed to see some things where His power was manifest. I would hasten to add this was only after being a believer, I believe the Lord wanting to show me He is there, no matter what, as I've held on to these things, with confronted with bad situations, since, gained courage from this.
