Ive been seeing threads about dreams where people are amused at their own dreams and others dreams!
Ive read enough input from some of you to realize you are skating on thin ice with this gnostic spiritual take on dreams.
You have been seduced by the serpent.

"Dreams can go hand in hand with visions – today, both of these are part of the prophetic movement that was once an iceberg that has melted over the Christian landscape.>>>>>>>>>>>>>> MYSTISISM

One Christian website states- “God has chosen to communicate with mankind through dreams. He guides and counsels us through our dreams. He establishes covenants with us through our dreams. He grants us gifts in our dreams. He utilized dreams from Genesis to Revelation, and declared that He would continue to use them in the last days. When you total up all dreams and visions in the Bible, and all the stories and actions which come out of these dreams and visions, you have about one-third of the Bible, which is equal to the size of the New Testament!

This is partially true. In the Old Testament books (Genesis and Daniel) we have a number of references to them. Dreams play a smaller but important part in Biblical revelation.

There is a difference when someone tells you to ask the Holy Spirit for dreams, visions, instead of focusing on learning the word; it is a clear giveaway of what their intentions are. The Gnostic or mystic will always elevate dreams, visions, or a spiritual experience above the written word. They will not question its authenticity because their belief is that there is no deception to be aware of. As one continues to become open and seek an “experience or new revelation” in this manner, instead of the literal written Word, new revelations can come more fluently through voices, dreams, visions etc.. As they continually seek outside the Scriptures for their instruction, they eventually will deny the sufficiency of Scripture - and their spiritual health will suffer.

The main premise for dreams and visions today is that it is one of the activities of the Spirits being outpoured in the last days. Peter quotes Joel 2:28 in Acts 2: “And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.

Jer 29:8 Yes, this is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: "Do not let the prophets and diviners among you deceive you. Do not listen to the dreams you encourage them to have.

You are most likely not PROPHETIC but in reality you are sadly deceived! Furthermore, if someone tells you they can interpret your dream saying that the elephant meant this or the "whatever" >meant that; RUN! Get on yur face and repent of entertaining spirits that are NOT from God!!

God gave us his word to weigh the truth. He tells us to test the spirits. That means: weigh it against HIS WORD and not to run amuck asking whoever will entertain our delusions!!

Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
Ac 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

Not written to Gentiles. Holy Spirit poured out on all flesh which includes Gentiles but your old men shall dream dreams. Change of personal article is important don't skip over it in the passage.

Im not exactly sure what you are saying.. I did emphasis OLD MEN.
I am seeing alot of young women and men coming with fantasies of dreams that supposedly came from God.

I always get some wild dreams since coming back to Chirst, is it a burden ehh, I guess pending on the individual. I dont like them, last night it was a slow motion murder of someone that was in a car. The person that killed him was in the same car. Not going to go into it, but I didn't even wake up.. and I felt kind of conscience in this one.

I mean, I just want one night of butterflies, see Jesus or the beach or something ... They're always bad, alligators, killings, and death. None of this happened when I lived of the world. This is something I still don't understand.

and I don't know of any Joesph the dreamers of today ..

ps, went to sleep listening to the audio book of Mark

I found when I first came to know Christ. My dreams were awful the devil would try and use each and every way to try and get at me. Unfortunately you find this when your doing right with Christ. I now pray and meditate more on the word every night then I used to.aswell as asking for a circle of protection to put a round me and my family as we sleep not letting anything not right by God dismay but only good thinks. I haven't had a bad dream for a long long time now praise be to God

I must correct myself .. They are insightful and I do understand some of them, one was about the power of prayer, I came out of a dream I was conscience in, and being very well overwhelmed .. I came out of that dream praying. This dream I tell you about I think I know what it's about, but I'm not going to speak on that, because it's something I wanted to know, and has nothing to do with His Gospel.

Still I wants some good dreams ..

God most definitely does send dreams and sometimes folks have visions...of course we should hopefully be able to tell the difference between something from God, something from the hot chicken wings and something that is a false spirit trying to appear as light

We should not reference dreams and such as any replacement for KNOWING scripture, truth and being led by the Spirit of God, but neither should we poo poo everything...not saying the op is doing that...but the Holy Spirit has not dried up and on vacation in the Negev

Perhaps God said 'old men' because of the experience and discernment they might have at that age...I would say that a person with discernment who knows scripture and follows the same, does also receive what we call supernatural guidance from time to time

God will not force things on us...I am sure that some folks pass up the spiritual gift God may have wanted to give them because they are either afraid, lack understanding or just do not believe God is still operating in the spiritual realm

But He is

This was something I wrote in another thread:

"God gave me a dream two days before a hurricane that implied in a very loose way for me to move my stuff out of the basement because it was going to flood. The first day I did not get it. The second day it dawned on me what God was trying to tell me. If I had been spiritually dull, I would not have gotten it.
Another time, my 27 year son was missing. He was missing for 8 days. The 5th or 6th day he was missing, I can't recall now exactly which day it was, I had a dream about him in a car. Then 3 or 4 days later we discovered him in a car.
Another time I had a dream about someone I was having a problem with, and in a very stark way, very direct and blunt, I was "told" stay away from this guy. Avoid him like the plague. I find out a few weeks later he is going around and telling people nasty things he wants to do to me.
Another dream, it was a time when I was having a hard time in my life, I was backslidden, and in my dream satan is condemning me, and very, very distinctly, I hear a voice I absolutely believe was God, and He said he is my son, meaning me.
Another time I am sleeping and it was near sunrise, and I hear a very clear voice say, get up and pray for so and so. So I did, not knowing what to pray for and why. I find out later he was in a car accident at that very time.
I know there are quite few more, but I can't recall even half of them right now, and it would be boring anyway to keep reading them.
I just wanted to make a point.
If God speaks to me like this in dreams, then there has to be other Christians he does too.
This is why I don't like it when other Christians say things that imply or state things that may discourage others from hearing from God in their dreams.
I know it doesn't happen much. But it happens, and maybe with some people more times in a year then we may be willing to think is possible."

So what do you all think of this?

Perhaps God said old men because that is exactly what he meant. Its not a symbolism. It is exactly what he said!

I think if God is speaking to you in this way, and things are laid out and happen as you believe they will...that you are receiving helpful guidance

the devil confuses people and takes them down paths that make no sense...paths that go nowhere and wind all over the place

God is not the author of confusion

As far as I know, last time I had a check up from the neck up, I was not found to be delusional, and I don't take any drugs, hallucinogenics or otherwise.
:D :D

Not a reply to anyone, just a general comment.

The hurricane did happen 2 days later.
And we did find my son in a car 4 days later.
So did I have dreams where God was giving me a message?

The one where I heard God say get up and pray for so and so at 6am, without a reason why, and it turned out that the person was in a car accident at that same time I guess really does not qualify as a dream, I don't think. I was sleeping though, and abruptly woke up.

I think the one about the alligators is worth mentioning ...

I started out on this ground floor of a parking garage (felt like I was coming for a job) and this one man with a stick was starting to show me everything. We started out in this bottom floor of the garage, it was all small baby gators, we walked through them, they were in about 2 feet of water as we went up he's showing me about the gators and we get to the next floor, they were a little bit bigger, well this happened for a few levels.. Until we got to this final level, which was this big 14ft monster of a gator. The guys telling me about it, and showing me how he eats and where. Then all of a sudden I was in this pool of water with this big powerful creature and I swam out, only to realize where I had swam to... It was where he eats, and he popped his head up and I could see he was headed to me. I was cornered ... The only thing I could do is what I did.. That was jump back in the water and get to the safe side where I had fell in,

I think that was a metaphor for satan, the little ones on smaller levels were demons, and devils. We should be aware of his power, his big, he's serious, and means business. I no longer underestimate him as I've done so prior,

So strange, I've heard a story of my grandmother doing the exact same thing.. She woke my grandpa and told him to call so and so that one of his relatives was in the hospital... It all checked out, true story. Thank you for sharing that

see, I cannot say definitively that you are....on the other hand, they were not lying dreams, right?

I have had revelation on things that came true 100%...I don't pursue that though (does not sound like you are either)...but if God wishes to reveal something to someone or speak to someone in a manner of His choosing, if we are discerning. if we are not seeking experiences, if we test the spirits, then I do not see where someone else can come along and tell a person that is not God

we are told we should have a personal relationship with God...well what on earth do some folks think that is? a new Bible every year?

I am super careful about spiritual things...and well we all should be because Jesus warns many times of deception...but if there is deception, does it not hold that the deceiver is attempting to deceive as an angel of light?

the NT tells us to be led by the Spirit of God...so does that mean someone else telling us what to do? I would find that highly doubtful in light of other scripture

I've had visions before, in the visions God was connecting scripture in my mind. It was like God was showing me that certain verses belonged together and why they belonged together.... those are very special moments in my life. But of course that's how the Holy Spirit speaks, he doesn't speak of his own, he only speaks what he hears.

You can throw out any dreams or visions that either add to the bible or contradict anything in the bible.
