I am so 20th century, I keep thinking if I know something, everyone already knows it. This includes stuff about false preachers. Someone just PM'd me to ask me what my problem is with Joseph Prince. Honestly? I just thought everyone got it, so never went into it too deeply. Sorry 'bout that.

So, what do I have against Joseph Prince? Quick version -- Joseph Prince doesn't know any of us on this site, and yet he thinks quite a few of us are worthless in God's kingdom, (if we're in his kingdom at all), because of our health issues and/or our finances.

Longer version, (and I picked an article specifically because it is NOT as long-winded as I am) --
Joseph Prince: Unmerited Favor - Christian Research Institute

This is the Word of Faith reloaded specifically to fleece people, and he really doesn't care if he destroys people in the process. He seems benign. His followers seem benign. (Even if they don't know they drank the Kool Aid, it's dangerous. And I truly feel sorry for those who have without knowing the lie they're buying.) Don't buy it. It's cancerous and affects the whole church.

And that doesn't even get into his marketing tactics. (And amazing feat for me, since marketing is something I truly get into -- whether white hat or black hat -- just because I like to see honest marketing.)

'kay? Are we all on the same page now that you know what I have against him?

Good Op..... I just finished a post about JP myself on another thread:
1. Joseph Prince changed his name just to sound like Joseph, the saving Prince of Egypt. His real name was Xenonamandar Jegahusiee Singh.

2. JP preaches Hypergrace, a known heresy.

3. JP preaches Word of Faith, a well known heresy. In his sermon "Walking in the undeserved favor of God" (3/28/04), he said: “Now I've been in the Word of Faith circle and I find that Word of Faith preachers know about favor. Churches of faith know about favor. The thing that I wish many of them would say though would be this - to use that phase - undeserved favor. Favor is good and the teaching of favor has produced tremendous testimonies but I would rather the Word of Faith preachers like myself use undeserved favor because that's the true definition of grace. Now I didn't learn amazing grace from Word of Faith though I'm a Word of Faith preacher. I had to learn that truly struggling on my own.” (Source: Jonathan Koh Thoughts on New Creation Church-and grace, faith, health and wealth).

He also mentions about fellowshipping with his dear friend Brian Houston, of Hill Song (Destined To Reign, p. 5). Houston is another word faith prosperity teacher. The Houstons -- Unmasked

4. JP doesn't preach conviction or biblical repentance.

I just noticed something. Why isn't popcorn being thrown by the fans? If that were Philly, I'm sure you'd see stuff being thrown in there that, moments before, should have been pt into the mouth. lol

Usually because it's the wrong format. I think JPGS and a couple other formats are doable, but sometimes I have pictures in the wrong format and get that little annoying box too.

Yeah, but don't it seem more like a business move than a name change?

That was an interesting read, thank you. I read it in Hank Hanegraaff's voice, LOL, and then I see at the end that it was written by someone else. Thank you for choosing something short. I have been witnessing this grace vs law war go on in the BDF for about half a year now *edit actually probably closer to a year now that I think about it*. It seems both sides agree that Grace allows one to keep the law and obey the commandments, which Jesus summed up as loving God, and your neighbor as yourself. The sticking point seems to be related to disobedience, and whether or not one can lose their salvation. Of course, the whole WoF movement comes with a whole lot of other promises and problems also, not the least of which is the slap in the face to those who are not healed of their infirmities and are left with the distinct impression they are being told that their lack of faith is at fault for their lack of healing.

PS~ Robby's pictures say the image is too big.

This came from OZY, a fairly unbiased news source:

Xenonamandar Singh became Joseph Prince in the early 1980s, while working as an IT consultant. He and friends co-founded New Creation Church in 1984. When he became the senior pastor in 1990, [6 years later, and long after he changed his name] services only drew about 150 people on a typical Sunday.

[Yeah, I'd say he did it for the big money in religion... LOL]
