Let me start off by saying, what I'm not saying. I'm NOT saying people who post MUST have perfect grammar and syntax in their posts. I'm NOT saying spelling must be pristine and perfect to post.

Ok, now that this is out of the way, let me say what I do mean to say!

I'm strongly encouraging folks to have some bare minimum of spelling, punctuation and text formatting in your posts before you hit that submit button.

I don't think what I'm asking is difficult or requires a higher education. It's just proper courtesy to the readers of your posts.

This is all stuff I had learned by the second or third grade.

So please, try to follow these guidelines for post readability.

1. Start your thoughts\sentences off with a capital letter. This helps us know where your thoughts start and stop. These are examples of capital letters. A B C X Y Z.

2. End your thoughts\sentences with a period. This helps us know where your thoughts end and where a new thought will begin. Knowing where your thought starts and stops makes it easier for us to follow!

3. Please don't type a LONG dense paragraph. Anything over five sentences gets difficult to read. So break it up a little.

Do these things out of courtesy to those using this board and also out of courtesy to me! I read every single post, and to keep this board peaceful I have to actually know what you're saying!

Here's an example of what I'm trying to get this board to avoid.......

yeah sew like paragraphs that are long are sooo annoying then like when they are being read my brain practically implodes out of frustration because i have no idea what the poster is trying to say not that it's evil for someone to not know the bare minimum of syntax and grammar but good grief how do they expect to be understood....right know what I meen yeah it's just difficult to understand and I just don't know do they really expect folks to fully understand tham maybe i'm the only one hoo haz problems reading really long dense paragrahps with bad spelling no syntax and no puncutation what so ever but eye reely don't think i am the only one am i No that's not possible I think others have the same problem too I dont think its unreasonable to ask others to have some bare minimum of punctuation and syntax just out of courtesy to the readers of this board and the other mods who have to read this stuff and make sure the board is functioning in a civil manner..iz that really too much to ask..no not reall...most of this stuff was learned by the third grade anywayz n like i dunno possibly if folks would just proof read their stuff before they hit submit then maybe like they could possibly..Have a more readible paragraph n stuff..maybe possisbly man i just don't know by now I think you see what I mean about courtesy when posting at least I hope you see what i mean or maybe you don't maybe this entire paragraph is as clear as can be to which I would be totally amazed and it would make me question EVERYTHING i know aobut humanity.

There shall be found among you none who are lazy in speech or writing of the English language. Thou shalt diligently teach thy son and thy son's son the correct spelling and usage of words, the correct usage of verb tense and pronouns, the correct usage of contractions, and further elements of style. And in time to pass, when thy son shall ask thee, "what dost thou mean by all these rules of spelling and grammar?" Then thou shalt say unto him, "it is because of what the Lord did for me in freeing me from the bondage of intellectual laziness."

Because this is the forum I pay most attention to and this is the one that tends to have the most drama, intense discussion over serious matters. :D

By pay the most attention to, I mean because it tends to need more modding than the other ones, due to its very nature. Ie, people arguing about their positions on issues non-stop.

Brilliant!

I've been asking this for ages now. It's one reason I've stopped using forums so much.

ieSpell is a free Internet Explorer browser extension that spell checks text input boxes on a webpage.
It should come in particularly handy for users who do a lot of web-based text entry (e.g. web mails, forums, blogs, diaries).
Even if your web application already includes spell checking functionality, you might still want to install this utility because it is definitely much faster than a server-side solution. Plus you get to store and use your personal word list across all your applications, instead of maintaining separate ones on each application.

www.iespell.com it's for personal use only and it's free!

Just fyi... it's simple to use, free and makes you seem brilliant, or at least above a 5th grade reading level :)

I completely agree. Sometimes though my spelling sucks with certain words. Is it possible to get a spell check?

Although I agree with you, there are some members on here that don't speak English very well, I hope you don't expect them to also have the same grammar and paragraph/sentence structure as we do.

:D
