Hi, I am trying to keep God's Holy day in the correct way, I do not go to a church because there are only two churches in the village in which I live and although I have been asked to join one of them, they do not keep God's Holy day on a Saturday.

I wondered if any one else have the same problem, and if so what you do.

I'm surprised that there is not a Seventh Day Adventist church near you. My problem is that my current schedule has me working on Saturday so that I am unable to attend at this time. I commend you in trying to keep the Sabbath in the correct way. If you have a computer you probably can find a service online. Glad to have you as part of our family. Welcome to CC.

I still always find it amazing that people actually think God is so concerned about which day we get together as worshipers.

Sabbath keeping with all it's rules and regulations, was part of a covenant with Israel that is not applicable to Christians under the New Covenant. Colossians 2:16 - Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day 17 things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.

Even when Christians set out to worship on the Sabbath, they aren’t truly "keeping the Sabbath." To "keep the Sabbath" as it was required in the Old Testament would involve compliance with stringent regulations (Exodus 16:23; 35:3; Leviticus 23:32; Jeremiah 17:21) that were strictly enforced. If Sabbath-day observances are still required, so would the burnt offerings which went along with them (Leviticus 19:30; 23:2-3; Numbers 28:1-10; 29:39-40; I Chronicles. 23:30-31; II Chronicles 31:2-4; Isaiah 1:13). These were commanded by God to the sons of Israel. If the seventh-day Sabbath is still in affect, then why do not the Sabbatarians seek to obey ALL that the LORD commanded? How can a person say he keeps a certain law when he keeps only part of it?

If the Sabbath-day laws were still in effect today, then according to Exodus 31:12-18; 35:1-3; and Numbers 15:32-36, anyone who profaned the Sabbath was put to death and any person who does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from his people. Who is going to enforce that? The Jewish synagogue? The Christian Church? The Seventh-day Adventist church? Or the State? Since we do not live under a theocratic state as ancient Israel did, no Sabbatarian can live consistently under the Mosaic regulations.

Honestly i myself am tired of all this "keep the sabbath" and "which day is the correct sabbath". I havent been to church in well over a year. I dont keep one "special" day for God. To me every day is the sabbath...the Lords day. I live every day for the Lord.

Keeping a "special" day for the Lord doesnt make you "holy". It is how you live every day, every minute of you life. The OT covenants are gone. We are now in the New covenant. We are to keep Gods moral laws not His cerimonial laws now.

Yeah there will be an uprage against my post but i am not worried about that. I am more worried if i am living for the glory of the Lord not whether i keep a certain day "holy". To me every day is Holy because He is Holy.

Live for God every day and then you will know what it means to "sabbath" in the Lord.

Think about this...God had to "make" a new covenant with us because we couldnt follow the "old".

(Rom 14:6)

He who observes the day, observes [it] to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe [it.] He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he who does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and gives God thanks.

Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Col 2:15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
Col 2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

Eph 2:14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
Eph 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
Eph 2:16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
Eph 2:17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
Eph 2:18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
Eph 2:19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God.

Isa 28:10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
Isa 28:11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.
Isa 28:12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

Receive ye the Holy Spirit,and you are keeping the sabbath,for it is a spiritual rest in the New Testament,and Jesus took the physical ordinances of Israel out of the way,nailing them to His cross,for they have no benefit towards a person's spiritual salvation,but only temporary until Jesus came.

Please don't take this as me being critical or what not..... but if a person wants to keep the sabbath, they must keep all the laws of the sabbath. Anything less would be hypocritical to say "I'm keeping God's sabbath", while you're only keeping the seventh day sabbath.

First of all, as you know, there was not only the "seventh day" Sabbath, but the first and last days of the seven Old Testament feasts were special Sabbaths, to be observed just as a seventh day Sabbath. (See Exodus 12:1-6; and 14-16 and Leviticus 23:1-8).
So, there were at least 64 "Sabbaths" in each calendar year. Many weeks had multiple "Sabbaths", one a seventh day Sabbath, the other a "Holy Convocation", the first or last day of a feast. Often, there were Sabbath days back to back - two days in a row. And. probably just as often, a Feast day Sabbath occurred the same day as the seventh day Sabbath.

I still always find it amazing that people actually think God is so concerned about which day we get together as worshipers.
Maybe it's because God stated the 7th day for man to assemble before Him - Lev 23, and to my knowledge has not changed the day.
I think we also need to consider a difference between us worshipping Him and Him instructing us....a line that has got blurred . We can worship God anytime anywhere but not be personally instructed apart from His commanded assemblies which are on the Sabbath. It's a bit like attending class and attending lessons when given.

And how do you know you live for GOD the way He wants you to if you will not be instructed by Him on the day HE has chosen ?
Scripture tells us that His ways and thoughts are much higher than ours....when, where and how will you learn ? You may well have the right ideas but they are just YOURS, they are not the way GOD wants you to do. If we want to be Sons of God we must learn OBEDIENCE as Jesus did Heb 5v8,9.

The way to overcome this problem is to read and study GOD's Word and is more beneficial than hearing it 'second-hand from a man who himself is not yet perfect. It is a sad fact that like any human organization even sabbath-keeping churches are not immune from human influence - but at least observe the day, which is better than rejecting it....seeing it is holy through God's presence.

Here's how the Lord says to observe the Sabbath Numbers 28:9-10 "‘And on the Sabbath day two lambs in their first year, without blemish, and two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour as a grain offering, mixed with oil, with its drink offering—this is the burnt offering for every Sabbath, besides the regular burnt offering with its drink offering."

Here's something interesting Matthew 11:27-30 "
All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him. Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Jesus give us this rest and it seem as though Jesus was teaching this on the Sabbath 12:1-8 "At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. And His disciples were hungry, and began to pluck heads of grain and to eat. And when the Pharisees saw it they said to Him, “Look, Your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath!
But He said to them, “Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him:how he entered the house of God and ate the showbread which was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests? Or have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath, and are blameless? Yet I say to you that in this place there is One greater than the temple. But if you had known what this means, ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the guiltless. For the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”

More than sacrifice the Lord desires mercy, not sacrifice. Listen to what the Holy Spirit says about the . Hebrews 4:1-4 "Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: “So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest,’” although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”; and again in this day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”

The Sabbath is a day of rest and we have entered in through Jesus, our Sabbath rest is in Him.

Col 2:13When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, 14having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him. 16Thereforeno one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day17things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.

Point and context.

In the OT the Sabbath day was a day of rest... There was no requirement for them to attend the Synagogue on that day.. Why does it matter what day you attend a meeting of Christians.. This whole,, you got to go to church on the Sabbath day,, is not based on the scriptures at all.. Indeed if people got strict about the Sabbath then they would not go to church on the Sabbath..

You ask a Pastor what is his most busy day and he will tell you the day everyone comes to church.. So if ones Church day is the true Sabbath day then it is the day when the Pastor is working his hardest and not resting. Which is going against what people are called to do on the Sabbath day... Rest...

If we think that keeping the Sabbath means what we do or don't do one a certain day - whether Saturday or Sunday - we have missed Christ Himself who is our true Sabbath. The Old Testament view of the Sabbath is a mere shadow of the real thing - which is Christ Himself.

I encourage you to look into the New Covenant and you will begin to experience the true Sabbath rest that the Old Testament alludes to - and it is Christ Himself.
