2 Corinthians 12:9 - But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.

We receive many of our greatest blessings and most important lessons in difficult times, which serve to increase our faith and deepen our love for the Lord.

What have you learned/how have you been encouraged in difficult times from/by the Lord?

I find that when I run around and aruond doing things all the times sometimes I forget to stop and remember why the actions are necessary. the concepts and ideas are not as important as the people the relationship . A principal told us once that the kids don't care about how much you know but how much you care. you could be the smartest person in the world concerning facts and things but if you do not have love, you would be the worst teacher ever because the kids will not be able to relate to you and you will not be able to matter to them because they can tell if they really matter to you or not.

the social aspect of school is often thought to be a bad thing but I think it is a way to show our love for others and a very human thing.

Its one of my weaknesss to get into books and ideas and concepts and forget the people around me who God calls me to speak with and fellowship with and spend time with.

It reminds me of these verses:

1 Corinthians 13

The Greatest Gift

1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned,[a] but have not love, it profits me nothing.
4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never fails.

It may be cliche, but I have found this to be absolutely true when witnessing. Must be why Jesus said we would be known BY OUR LOVE rather than much blustering...
We need to show people God's love and live it out 24/7, not just talk about it.

I was encouraged by the Lord during a stay in the hospital when I felt I had messed everything up in my life. I asked God if he still cared about me after all I did and I felt a warm hand on my shoulder. There was no human there, it was the Holy Spirit comforting me. And so I cried for a while. That's the most special I've felt my entire life. All my faith was affirmed right there.

God came and rescued me during the hardest part of my life. I thank God that He uses the foolish things to confound the wise. He uses weakness to be strong. He waters down the sacrifice to be consumed with fire. He proves that He is God by doing works in His weakest or least people.

Well my situation seems difficult. We have to be out of our apartment by October 31. My baby is due October 27, and every day there is a reason to push the closing date of our house a little farther out. We are running out of time!!!!

But today I was just driving and realized that I have everything I've ever wanted. I love my God, I love my family, I love my job, and even though we don't have a lot of money we always have enough.

Then I realized that maybe there have been so many "snags" in this house closing because otherwise it would be very easy to get fixated on my new house and my new baby, but everytime something comes up I'm reminded to talk to the Boss about it. I appreciate how God uses patience-building circumstances to remind me to turn to Him (even though I really hate the patience-building part!) :)

It is but so sad that many are encouraged to call on God especially in difficult times, but sometimes this is God's way of reminding us that He is always there for us in times of need. A good relationship with God is having a consistent communication with Him be it in good times or bad times. And this is through prayers.

I treasure even the difficult times, nomerhunks, as they are when I come to know Him more deeply than the easier times, and they serve as a reminder of His faithfulness. And joy comes in the morning. :)

I see the truth. My glory comes from my interconnectedness with God, not from my strength. I know God. That's my most redeeming value. Literally.
