You have to keep the Old testement laws including the Sabbath-.

Mathew 5:17
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

According to dictionary.reference.com fulfill means :
1. to carry out, or bring to realization, as a prophecy or promise.

As you can see Jesus did not come to abolish but to bring to realization the law and the prophets.

Some people fail to keep Old testiment laws because they says Jesus has done away with it?
The laws no longer apply to us? we are not Jews?

Well according to Romans born again Christians are inwardly Jews due to the circumcision of the heart, in the spirit.

Romans 2
26Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?

28For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: 29But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

So your spirit's heart is circumsised.

Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. 11For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

mmm Paul fought and died so that gentiles would not enslaved to the law of Moses.

Acts 21
17 And when we had come to Jerusalem, the brethren received us gladly. 18 On the following day Paul went in with us to James, and all the elders were present. 19 When he had greeted them, he told in detail those things which God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry. 20 And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord. And they said to him, “You see, brother, how many myriads of Jews there are who have believed, and they are all zealous for the law; 21 but they have been informed about you that you teach all the Jews who are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their children nor to walk according to the customs. 22 What then? The assembly must certainly meet, for they will[c] hear that you have come. 23 Therefore do what we tell you: We have four men who have taken a vow. 24 Take them and be purified with them, and pay their expenses so that they may shave their heads, and that all may know that those things of which they were informed concerning you are nothing, but that you yourself also walk orderly and keep the law. 25 But concerning the Gentiles who believe, we have written and decided that they should observe no such thing, except [d] that they should keep themselves from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality.”

you see that they say Paul taught them NOT to walk according to the customs of Moses and the ruling is that they do not need to observe such things EXCEPT: not eating food offered to idols, with blood, strangled or being sexually immoral.

why does everyone want to enslave others again to the LAW instead of teaching people how to walk according to the SPIRIT of GOD?

why don't people talk about how you should pray with a humble contrite heart? why don't people talk about visiting widows, caring for orphans?

Oh........dear.....:(

Christians have their 'rest' in Christ Jesus every single day.

The ceremonies of Moses law was never anyones to keep but the ancient Hebrews. And they couldnt do it. ALL FAIL to keep OT laws. Thats why we need a saviour.

Daniel 9:27
(27) And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

When Jesus died He put an end to the ceremonial laws of which the 7th day sabbath was not a part. The 7 feasts they had through the year were called Sabbaths as well, it is the ceremonial Sabbaths that are done away with not the weekly sabbath.
Deuteronomy 7:9
(9) Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;
Psalms 105:8
(8) He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.

Genesis 2:3
And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

As you can see the 7th day has been blessed and sanctified since Genesis by God, therefore it is still in effect today and the end of the earth, i do not think it is only for the Jews because God made his covenant with Abraham after the Sabbath had been established.

What laws are you referring to when you say "enslave"?

Abiding, thanks for the support :)

Age: 17 Keep Loving the Lord!
yes yes but I remember being a nurse tech in the Medical intensive care unit and taking dead bodies to the morgue at 17. I was 17 when I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. what is your point?

the Pharisees had the FORM but not the SPIRIT of the law.

Example compare the ten commandments and the sermon on the mount they are the same laws on has become form other reveals SPIRIT.

in the same way the SABBATH refers to more then just a ceromonial day of rest and rest is more then just not working for JESUS did His Father's work on the Sabbath day and we are to do God's work EVERY DAY.

it kind of late I'll try later to make sense.

God bless and like Abiding said keep seek God's truth and loving Him.

You were never commanded to keep a seventh day sabbath. You are not an ancient israelite.

Eternal rest is in Christ.

Don't put a yoke on believers.

You are not worshipping in truth if you legalise a 7th day sabbath for Christians, you are in bondage to the law.

Not bondage freedom.
Exodus 20:2
(2) I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
John 8:34-36
(34) Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
(35) And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
(36) If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
James 1:25
(25) But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
James 2:12
(12) So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

The Sabbath of the Bible

The Lord blessed the sabbath day and hallowed it." Exodus 20:11. "And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it." Genesis 2:3.

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it." Exodus 20:8-11

"Blessed is the man ... that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it." "Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the Lord, ... every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant; Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer ... for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people." Isaiah 56:2, 6, 7
"For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain. And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord." Isaiah 66:22, 23.

"Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the Lord that sanctify them." Ezekiel 20:12. By keeping the sabbath you are saying that GOD is the God of creation.

"But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day." Matthew 24:20, You can only travel so far on the sabbath so you don't want to have to leave a city and brake the sabbath.

"Call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord." Isaiah 58:13. "For the son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day." Matthew 12:8. all the days name was just a number but the 7 day had a name sabbath.

when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath." "And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God." Acts 13:42, 44

And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures." Acts 17:2
And he [Paul] reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks." Acts 18:4.

And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read." Luke 4:16.

And when the sabbath was past, ...very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre." Mark 16:1, 2.

"Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane ... and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them." "Therefore have I poured out my indignation upon them." Ezekiel 22:26, 31. Don't keep mans sabbath but keep the LORDs

Through Christ we are grafted into the vine to the true Israel then because we are Israel then the sabbath is for us.

Christ is our eternal rest. We keep the sabbath in spirit and truth, not in the letter of the Mosaic covenant given ONLY to the ancient Hebrews.

Do you hold that the punishments for breaking the sabbath are also for us?
