6th Letter to the Church of Philadelphia

Hello everyone,

There are 7 Letters to 7 Churches in Chapters 2 and 3 of Revelation. Let’s read them one by one and share any understanding that the Holy Spirit gives us.

I’ll create a thread for each letter to each church so we can discuss them separately.

Try to stay away from commentaries…just read the scriptures and ask the Holy Spirit to open them to you and give you understanding…then share with all of us what you heard the Spirit saying….

Here is the 6th Letter to the angel/messenger of the church of Philadelphia:

Revelation 3:7-13

7 “And to the angel/messenger of the church in Philadelphia write,

Greeting:

‘These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens”:

Evaluation:

8 “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. 9 Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie—indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you.

Correction:

(None)

Commends them:

10 Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.

Instruction:

11 Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have,

Consequence:

that no one may take your crown.

Exhorts them to hear the Spirit and overcome:

12 He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.

13 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”’

12 He who overcomes,

The born again ("in the time of the Gentiles") have already overcome.
Its by being born again that causes your born again Spirit to EXIST, as ""One with God in Christ"..... is how this is achieved, once and for all time.

Jesus says in John 16:33 that He has overcome the world.
So, when you are born again, you now exist as. "IN CHRIST" ....... so, there is how you have "overcome"

Revelation 3:7-13

Greeting:

‘These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens”:

Jesus Christ is revealing Himself as King of Kings - as holy and true. We will know and fully understand holiness and truth. He is set apart and not defiled with anything unclean or a lie and His Kingdom is the same - holy and true.

He has the key of David which is all power and authority of the physical Kingdom of God which is to be manifested on the Earth. Jesus can open the Kingdom of God on the Earth and no one can shut it. He can also shut the Kingdom of God and no one can open it. The Kingdom of God belongs to Jesus Christ, He has the key of David. Hallelujah and Amen!

He has the key of David which is all power and authority of the physical Kingdom of God which is to be manifested on the Earth.

Currently in the "time of the Gentiles" the Kingdom of God is a Spiritual Kingdom.

Romans 14:17. """" For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.""""

All the born again, have been "Translated from darkness ......TO LIGHT">

See that "LIGHT"? That is the KOG, and the born again exist within it, and it exists within the born again.

This is understood as....>"Jesus is the LIGHT of the world".....and all the born again are "Children of THE Light".

Looking at the Lord's evaluation of the Church of Philadelphia... Share any thoughts or insights you have!

Evaluation:

8 “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. 9 Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie—indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you.

Jesus knows our works...publicly and privately what we think, say and do and the motive of our heart. He is the One that can set before us an open door that no one can shut. He is our strength because we have little strength. He is pleased that we have kept His Word...we did not twist it or distort it, we loved His Word and did not deny His name before man...we proclaimed Him with no fear of man, even in the midst of the synagogue of Satan - those that say they are saved but are not. Instead, they accuse and falsely judge us as being evil.

The Lord will handle all of those of the synagogue of Satan, they will have to come and acknowledge that Jesus Christ as loved us. I'm keeping my focus on Jesus Christ! He'll handle all my enemies, amen!

Jesus Christ does not correct the Church of Philadelphia for anything. He does give a brief instruction and consequence - both are simple and encouraging.

Revelation 3:7-13

Wow! They must have been rooted and grounded in God's love which is the fulfillment of all the law and the prophets. When our love for God, others and ourselves is perfect and our faith is working by love....there is absolutely nothing to be corrected.

Instruction:

11 Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have,

Jesus just encourages them and us to hold fast, don't let your love grow cold....hold on, not much longer....He's coming quickly!

Consequence:

that no one may take your crown.

In the Kingdom of God, those with crowns are in positions of authority to serve others. If we let someone take our crown, they're taking our ability to serve others. Stay in love.

The claim of a jew isn’t the line of flesh but of spirit there are some Jews who claim to be Jews but don’t obey God they get circumcised and think now they have kept the covenant but there’s another kind of jew


“For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:

But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭2:28-29‬ ‭

“Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called. That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God:

but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭9:6-8‬ ‭

There are always two plains of things in scripture the flesh and the spirit just like ishmael and Isaac. Or even Abram and Abraham , or Jacob and israel flesh and spirit we need to identify the spiritual true things

However, when you read that verse.....what do you hear the Spirit saying? Do you understand how to apply that verse to your own personal life?
