The compelling force of my fallen nature to sin is the "law of sin."

The desire in my mind to obey God is the "law of my mind."

The fallen nature that desires sin is the "law of my members."

The controlling power of sin which ultimately produces death is the "law of sin and death."

In that manner. . .
My mind is not wrapping it's self around "compelling force/controlling power". To me, it is saying there is a "FORCE" causing us to sin. I am sure you are not saying that we are controlled by forces.

I am sorry I am having trouble understanding....

The theme of the book of Romans is: God's eternal covenant of Grace,8:29-39, God's great salvation, the Gospel of God. centered in The eternal son of God become man and became our Savior by death and resurrection. Our Salvation comes to us in two parts the first is: Sanctification the 2nd is: Justification. The very first ch. vs. 1-17 tells of sanctification, " called to be saints", this is sanctification begin ,the radical break with sin. The rest of ch.1 tells of the lostness and helplessness of all mankind. Ch.2 tells of the lostness of the self righteous wicked Jews 2:1,8 who trusted in the letter of the law but knew nothing of the heart of the law which is love and holy deeds; The lost Jew, 2:17-27 is compared to the "born again" Gentile who does works of righteousness and is justified, being a doer of the law,2:6-7,13 and not a hearer only. The saved Gentile is sanctified by the Spirit 2:15 and shows the law of God written in his heart, 2:14-16, which is the promise of the New Covenant in Christ's blood, and this one Jew or Gentile show by his good work and faith that he/she is born of God.2:29. Ch. 3;1-20 shows the sinful lostness of all men, then in 3:21-5:14 Paul introduces the theme of Justification by Grace and Faith. I will look at this later.
In all of the Apostle Paul's writings he starts with Sanctification and then talks of Justification second. this is God's order in salvation 1st. born of God, 2nd Justified by God. This shows us the great important god puts on the "conversion of the sinner in salvation. Love to all Hoffco

everysingle person on this forum wants to do the right thing and the will of God, ofcourse we all love God, we may have went down the wrong path or to doctrines of men but all it takes is to admit to yourself that something is wrong and i'm sure God will hear your plee, i really would love for my fellow brothers and sisters who are trying to be justified by the law to come to terms of what me and my fellow brothers are truly saying on this forum, honestly my heart longing for everyone to just be in the same faith, firstly we gotta ask yourself a question why did christ come? to die for sinners right? that would mean that whatever we had to follow before wasn't able to fully get rid of sin so God himself had to come down to overcome it for us, now what does this mean? how can the sinners be saved and be made holy through the death of christ? through the receiving of the holy spirit that is the gift, and that gift makes us righteous that is the fulfillment of the law and take a look at this

20 Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
21 (Touch not; taste not; handle not;
22 Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?
Colossians 2:20-22

King James Version (KJV)

our focus should be on God not anything else, i know some people won't understand what i mean because.. if anyone experience it they would just know.. what fulfill means and the spirit of the law, but because of this we don't have to look at anything else but God and of the heavenly things to come

3 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
Colossians 3:1-3 God bless you all
My brotherI do not believe any man is justified by works, however none the less I assu,e you are talking about me, as that has been the default position of my promoting obedience to Yahweh's Instructions.

I do have to say this verse:

"20 Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
21 (Touch not; taste not; handle not;
22 Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?
Colossians 2:20-22"

is not in any way shape or form talking about Yahweh's Law, it is talking about the commandments of men.

This is all explained fully in Romans 7 and 8, about being dead to sin and alive to righteousness.

Since we are dead to the world we are no longer held in its contract.

Romans 7:2, "For the woman who has a living husband has been bound by the Law to her husband; but if her husband dies, she is released from the Law of her husband."

I know we, as I was told my whole life this verse meant "we are free from Yahweh! AND ALL His unfair Instructions!!!!"

However this is not all all what is meant here, this is about being freed from the ways of the world/sin, free from sin have power over us by the blood of the Lamb, and thus being able to submit to the Spirit of Yahweh fully.

The law of sin and death is the disobedience to Yahweh.

Romans 7:12, "Therefore the Law is holy, and the commandments are holy, and just, and righteous."

Romans 7:14, "For we know that the Law is spiritual; but I was carnal, sold into the power of sin."

Romans 8:2, "Because through Yahshua Messiah, the Law of the Spirit has set me free from the law of sin and death."

Romans 8:6-8, "For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against; (bitterly opposed to), Yahweh; for it his not subject to the Law of Yahweh, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are of the flesh cannot please Yahweh."

Satan hates Yahweh's Instructions and wants all to also hate them.

Satan cast off Yahweh's Instructions and wants all to cast them off.

to add.

We love because he first loved us.

If we have not experienced his love through his grace gift of eternal life. We have no capacity to love. Thats why we can try our best to follow any law we deem as moral. But it is not out of love, But out of self.

We Must experience the love of God first. Before we can produce the love God created us to do (work)
The question is do we love God enough to obey Him.

The question is do we love God enough to obey Him.
That question has been answered.

1. Before we come to saving faith, we do not have the capacity to love God. or anyone else. in the way God created love.
2. After we are born again, We are given the taste of Gods love, and the capacity for us to love (God and others) grows. as we trust God more.

Unfortunately. Some will grow to trust God in a sacraficial way in great ways, Some will remain babes due to lack of trust.

But ALL will love, as a change of their spirit has happened.

Again, We love ONLY because God first loved us.

Jesus of Nazareth did not exist when the law was given to Moses.
I beg to differ, for when Jesus was talking with God He said;John 17:4-5 (KJV)
[SUP]4 [/SUP]I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

Wht laws are still valid?

How about all of them.

Now, is it up to us to do them? Yes.
How do we? (By the sanctification of the Holy Spirit.)
So if I love God I won't hate Him (I won't do my own thing)
If I love God, I will not hate my fellow humans. (Won't covet their goods, won't kill them, won't lie to them, won't steal their wives)
I will keep the sabbath day holy(which is everyday)
I am taking care of my mom (only a reprobate would not see to it)

What laws do I need to keep? None. For unless His Spirit is working in me, all of His laws are not applicable to me.

Either you are in, or you are out.
If you're in, stay in; -(by His grace)
If you are out, get in; - (by His blood {which is still by grace})

I think this view is more characteristic of a law-cultist mindset than that of a child of GOD. This view focuses on self, and implies a certain threshold that must be overcome by human effort and will in order to become obedient. That is the essence of works of law. Since the threshold is undefinable, there is no rest because there is a constant striving to please GOD through one's efforts. In order to produce peace of mind, one has to imagine that he has met that threshold of obedience to GOD through his efforts. I call this the idolatry of imagined obedience.

A child of GOD, on the other hand, expresses to GOD's creation the love that GOD has for his creation that GOD has placed in each believer's heart. This is well-pleasing to GOD and fulfills a key, intended purpose for the law of Moses. That's why it is written that love fulfills the law of Moses.

Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

On the other hand, there are those who do not want to remember the Law anymore.

You two are saying the same thing in different ways.
'John832' and 'Herosefromthedead'.
At least by your last post John, you seem to agree with what Herose and I said.
Correct me if I'm wrong.....

Who might this be? On the one hand, we have people using the law to be righteous. On the other we have people who use the law as a schoolmaster. Always convicting them that they are not righteous. But I do not know anyone who does not want to remember the law. God wrote the law in our hearts, We could not forget it even if we wanted to. As Scripture says, Even gentiles (non saved) do what is right according to the law, even though they do not have the law.. The law can not go away, because it is in our inner being!

I think that's a caricature wrapped in ambiguity. GOD's law written on the heart is simply figurative language used to describe the indwelling holy spirit.

As I study Col. 2&3 I see two sources of false, bad conduct things to avoid, The one comes from the cults of the world, with their self denial taboos to avoid to be "holy": like bad philosophy . traditions of men, empty deceit, 2:8 & in v.18 false humility and worship of angels, guiding angels, spirits that talk to you. these are forbidden. The second source of useless conduct is the Old Testament rituals, v.16 These are "Yahwah's o.t. laws, festivals sabbaths, moons, and in v.14, WE see that Jesus destroyed "the handwriting of requirements which were against us,... contrary to us." This is the same problem Paul and Barnabas faced in Acts 15 with the Jews who were requiring the Gentiles to be circumcised and keep the law of Moses to be saved. Peter said,vs10 ".. do not test God by putting a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? We Christians MUST accept the fact that the N.T. does not allow the teaching of certain O.T. laws of Yahweh. GOD has changed His laws, we only keep the laws that the N.T. allows. The qualities that keep us pure are the Spiritual duties of Christians,: mercy, kindness, long suffering forgiveness, love, peace; and put off: fornication, uncleanness. passion evil desires, covetousness anger, wreath malice etc. What we eat or drink and the feasts we keep, don't help fight the flesh. A little wine and meat ,fish a wife, golf, cards, etc. may not hinder our spiritual growth. It is how we do them. Love to all, Hoffco

May I ask, do you believe one is given the gift of eternal life. And do you believe this life God himself calls eternal is actually eternal, or is it conditional?

I believe NONE will have eternal life unless Yahweh gives it to them, not even debateable in my mind.

Of course recieveing eternal life from Yahweh is conditional. Yahweh has set a criteria to enter HIS kingdom, entrance is not gained by what I choose, its gained but HIS criteria only.

It is summed up here.

Revelation 14:12, "In this manner are the saints purified--by keeping the Laws of Yahweh, in conformity with the faith in Yahshua Messiah."

If you disagree with this you disagree with the Creator of all that is.

...........

Works only = dead

Faith only = dead

Faith + works = alive

Yaaqob 2:26, "For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so the faith without works is dead also."

The seed of satan fights against those who keep Yahweh's Laws and have the faith in Yahshua:

Revelation 12:17, "And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went to make war with those who forsook her seed; her seed being those who keep the Laws of Yahweh, and have the testimony of Yahshua Messiah."
