G
I would like to analyze these 'all' and 'things' and 'everything' keywords in these verses, one by one, as to come to an understanding of what (or 'who) is meant as 'all things,' (v. 16), in 'everything,' (v. 17) and, other verses in this set. Truly, I want to pray of how to put to rest the rumor, myth, DISPENSE the truth, of if YOU are a 'thing,' or, not.
v. 15 -- "all." To me, this means that God is over every, man, woman, child, creature living on Earth, right down to the microscopic plankton in the sea
v.16 -- 'all things.' Again, 'all things' refers to every thing (male, female included) in the world, and, heaven, even, too.
v. 17 -- 'all things' are held together by Him. Without Him, quite simply, they are molecules and atoms that fall apart
v.18 -- 'in everything' in Him all things were under, are under, including church, including, even, THE DEAD ! of whom Christ is already been 'firstborn,' or, raised FIRST by God, His Father, who is of Him. He is the beginning and the end of ALL THINGS
v. 19 -- God pleased with His Son who is fully dwelling in Him, in all fullness. He is in Him, what's more, He IS Him
v.20 -- 'all things' reconciled to Him through death of His Son and blood shed for who, or, what rather? ALL THINGS !
Cats and dogs too, green, You mean, my dog, Fido, is in heaven now? Yes
v. 21 The word 'you' in verse 21 is quite telling, it refers to all those keywords earlier, which speaks of who? ALL THINGS ! And , guess what, peeples? We are a 'thing' too, just like a rat is a thing and a baboon is a thing, WE are human things
So, alienated from God. His enemies. Sad, huh REally sad We ALL THINGS killed Christ, PUT HIM on that cross. Noooo selectivity. We aLL killed Christ, we all persecuted Him, we all deserve DEATH. But, yet while we , ALL HUMANS, ALL THINGS, were SINNERS, Christ died for us
Psssh, and, you thought there would NOT be a happy ending to this story, but, there is a glorious, joyous ending, isn't there, don't you just love it !! Or, I mean, ahem, don't you just Love Him, for what He did for you after all YOU did TO Him ??
You thing !!! But, you are a thing that God redeemed by His Son's shed blood, the Lamb's blood, on that cross.
Because why, green? Because, He loved you THING !!! Think on that a second, you human THING !!!
15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. 21Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of[SUP]g[/SUP] your evil behavior. 22But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— 23if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.
