IMO shouldn't it be the words of the Holy Spirit given to Paul exclusively to the house-churches of Corinth & the house-churches of Ephesus of whom Timothy was an overseer?
Yes. Therefore, this is a divine prohibition.

It commands them not to teach and to keep silent. How pray tell does one remain silent while preaching?
Awww I knew at any time Mr. Circular logic would show up...Show in black, white or red where it says:

Any the Lord God has said, no woman , nor female should preach, be a pastor, or preacher. Where doe sPaul say:

I forbid a woman to preach this Gospel of Christ and him crucified?

You cannot , because there is nothing of the such in the Bible...period.

Your reaching at straws, ignoring proper Bible Hermeneutics and fail to apply context to your dominate male interpretation.

You better run along and run to your pastor or to your board and make sure that Sister oh so spiritual, who teaches little boys in Sunday School and get her removed from her teaching gig..

Do we agree that historical context should be involved because both cities were steeped in Diana/Artemis worship?

Do you still ask your husband permission to open his Bible in church?
All responsible husbands carry the word of God written upon their hearts, and all accountable wives never have a problem asking their husband for Bible insight.

What worth is it to a person to know the Word of God, but doesn't know the God of the Word? :D

Son, you are not going to last very long on this website with that kind of attitude. You need to reign it and grow up or get off. You demonstrate a complete disregard for the very clear language of scripture in favor of a feminist agenda. You are arrogant, abusive and are certainly not worthy of my time. My time is reserved for people with genuine questions and real needs.

Spare the lecture DAD!

You are guilty as well, show me in the Bible what I asked...you cannot and now hide behind fear and accusations of your own, because you cannot produce it and never will.

You get mad, because I pushed the button of hypocrisy and oh how that little button exposes the truth.

Now, run along DAD and get rid of sister oh so spiritual, for she is teaching boys in sunday school...

Come to full age already.

Maybe the question should be changed. Why does it matter so much? Are there no male preachers who have been deceived or have deceived others with wayward preaching and teaching? Do we propose to truly know the mind of God? I see that Paul says that he, himself, does not allow women to do this thing. One of the great things about Paul is that when it was truly God-ordained and commanded, he would say so, and when it was not, he would not say so. Thus, when he says that he, himself, does not permit it, that means Paul himself.

He would have plainly said, "God does not suffer women to teach in church." If that were the case, which it is not, we must see why the enemy of our souls, namely satan, makes this such a large issue, used to divide the body and crush women and the call of God on their lives under his foot.

Before you say a woman is not called to preach or teach, beware. I ask again, do we dare say that we know the mind of God with absolute authority? If we do, I challenge you to read the last few chapters of Job and consider your surety and answer again under the light of God. His thoughts are far above our own and His ways above our ways. Do we limit God?

Ask me this some other time and we will discuss the role of scripture in culture. This would be off the topic of the thread.

Culture has everything to with scripture and to say it does not means you have erred in your Biblical Hermeneutics.

YES!!! PAUL WROTE THE INSPIRED WORD OF GOD BUT IN THIS CASE PAUL IS GIVING HIS PERSONAL OPINION JUST AS SOLOMAN DID IN PARTS OF HE BOOK OF Ecclesiastes 1

1 The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem. IN THE BIBLE GOD HAS IN SOME PLACES ALLOWED MAN TO RECORD MAN'S IDEAS AND OPINION SO A BELIEVER MUST KNOW HOW TO RIGHTLY "DIVIDE" THE WORD!!

When one has the anointing on them to do anything in a service, it matters not if they are male or female. Spirit is not male nor female.

But, in authority, it is the male who should have the leadership. It's for the womans benefit. Protection.

Mystdancer...No offense here, but is your intention to defend a gender
Or to defend and uphold the word of God?
If you feel there is a double standard within each genders created role, then so be it.
Yet it is more following what God has initiated within the lines of authority within Gods kingdom.
Not how one feels about it.
God bless

34The women are to keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak, but are to subject themselves, just as the Law also says. 35If they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is improper for a woman to speak in church. 36Was it from you that the word of God first went forth? Or has it come to you only? 37If anyone thinks he is a prophet or spiritual, let him recognize that the things which I write to you are the Lord’s commandment. 38But if anyone does not recognize this, he is not recognized.
