Maybe the question should be changed. Why does it matter so much? Are there no male preachers who have been deceived or have deceived others with wayward preaching and teaching? Do we propose to truly know the mind of God? I see that Paul says that he, himself, does not allow women to do this thing. One of the great things about Paul is that when it was truly God-ordained and commanded, he would say so, and when it was not, he would not say so. Thus, when he says that he, himself, does not permit it, that means Paul himself.
He would have plainly said, "God does not suffer women to teach in church." If that were the case, which it is not, we must see why the enemy of our souls, namely satan, makes this such a large issue, used to divide the body and crush women and the call of God on their lives under his foot.
Before you say a woman is not called to preach or teach, beware. I ask again, do we dare say that we know the mind of God with absolute authority? If we do, I challenge you to read the last few chapters of Job and consider your surety and answer again under the light of God. His thoughts are far above our own and His ways above our ways. Do we limit God?
