I celebrate Christmas as should we all ; Specially as a Christian. It marks the day God began to dwell with man on earth in the form of Christ. His only begotten son.

This is a more detailed look at Luke 1 that many might have overlooked.

Luke 1:5

5 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth . KJV

….Zacharias being a priest would have been a Levite. His wife Elisabeth being of the daughters of Aaron was also a Levite.

Luke 1:7

7 And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years.
KJV

Luke 1:11-13

11 And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.

12 And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.

13 But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.
KJV

Luke 1:16-17

16 And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.

17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
KJV

....In verse 17 above the angel Gabriel is telling us that John came "in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,". This was a prophecy from Malachi 4:5-6 which are the last 2 verses of the Old Testament....

Luke 1:24-30

24 And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying,

25 Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he looked on me, to take away my reproach among men.

26 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.

28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
KJV

Luke 1:31-33

31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
KJV

Luke 1:36-37

36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth , she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.

37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.
KJV

….Here we see that Mary (who was a Judahite) and Elizabeth (who was a Levite) were cousins. This means that their mothers were sisters. So Mary’s mother then was a Levite while her father was a Judahite.

Christ then being born of Mary was half Judahite and half Levite making him the priest king, the Messiah. The conception of Christ by the Holy Spirit was in the 6 month of Elisabeth’s pregnancy (Luke 1:36)….

Luke 1:39-44

39 And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda;

40 And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth .

41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:

42 And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.

43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

44 For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.
KJV

....When was the conception of Christ? If we can figure out the conception and birth of John the Baptist we can figure out the same for Christ as they were 6 months apart in age. So how do we determine the month that John the Baptist was born?

We know that Zacharias was a priest “of the course of Abia:”. Documentation for this is in Luke 1:5....

Luke 1:5 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia:….KJV

John's father, Zechariah (Z'chariyahu in Hebrew) (Zacharias in the KJV NT), was of the priestly division of Abiah (or Abijah) (Lk. 1:5). There were 24 such divisions (1 Chr. 24:7-18) taking their turn over the course of the year. Abiah was the 8th division (1 Chr. 24:10). Each division ministered for one week.

Zechariah's division (Abiah) served between Sivan 9 and Sivan 16 (Jun. 11th). Zechariah thus returned home on June 11th (Lk. 1:23).

We can’t be exact but for the sake of argument Zechariah and Elisabeth would have conceived within the next month. Let’s pick 2 weeks later, June 25th. Why pick June 25th?

Elijah was expected to come at Passover as he was to come just prior to the saving of Israel. Christ associated John with Elijah (Matt 17:12). And of course the angel Gabriel said in Luke 1:17, "And he (John) shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah".

9 months from June 25th would set John’s birth at March 25th which would be Passover.

Being that John was 6 months older than Christ then, Christ would have been born about September 25th. If the Feast of tabernacles sets the day of Christ’s birth then we could say that Christ was born between September 22nd and the 29th.

This would make the conception of Christ on or about December 25th.

This is a short study by Done Heath .

I celebrate Christmas as should we all ; Specially as a Christian. It marks the day God began to dwell with man on earth in the form of Christ. His only begotten son.
See how easy it is for us to make laws, rules and regulations?:)

"Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage." Gal 5:1.

"Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." 2 Cor 3:17.

The exact celebration date of the Lord's birth is not important anymore. It is a matter of the heart and our understanding of liberty in Christ Jesus.

I dont see Christmas , and today as like a rule or anything. Christ came and set us free, like you mentioned. That's worth remembering when God came here as Christ. . The exact date might not be important to most. But since, Luke, give us so much detail in God's words. It can be learned when we study the Bible for these facts.

Since it is recorded in the Bible, and not in mans books. Its never a waste of time to learn whats written. So its important to me to learn, and Im just sharing what I learned.

Where in scripture does it say Jesus was in the womb of Mary for exactly 9 months? Could of been 8, could of been 10 or 11.

John was 9 months from conception , until he was born. Since both their birth are declared by God to take place, I would expect the 9 month of John, to naturally be the same time it took for Christ.

Mary spoke with her cousin after her conception, and Elizabeth was already 6 months with John. John was a divine declared birth , and God even named John. Since he is 6 months already ; he would only have 3 to go. And we see that is exactly what happened in verse 56-57.

Christ named by God also, I would expect his birth to be a perfect 9 months just as John . That seems to be the normal time it takes from, conception. I probably missed some more details , when I notice I will post more.

Christmas is not in the Bible. Who are you to say ALL should worship Jesus on December 25th? Where is it in the Word? What you posted is as twisted a thing as I've ever seen!

I think you two are missing the point, and adding things in I never said. My post is not about what people do, on Christmas.

This post is about what took place at this time, in scripture. You'd be better off if you leaf all you personal hang ups at the door. Simply just enjoy the scripture, and not allow the world to rob you.

Karraster; I never said, or implied, that what people do today is in the Bible( like the commercialism ). But what I am showing and documenting, is Christ conception, did take place on this day, and the scriptures state it is good, and a joyous occasion. That is all.

I dont care what you do on December the 25th. It is the Bible that is simply documenting what took place concerning Christ, on this day. That is all. No need to add assumptions and hangups into the scriptures covered here.

I posted scripture. That is is no way shape nor form twisted. grief.......

And chubbena: We should celebrate Christ everyday. I'm not talking about everyday, I'm just pointing out what scriptures say happened this day. Please try your hardest people, not to assume so much based on your past experiences with people. And allow the scriptures to speak for themselves.

So no ones going to ""come after you"" as you said, just because you want to worship Christ everyday.. Again, this is about what took place today, otherwise know as Christ mas. I'm not talkin about santa here.

I mean, did you actually take the time to read the post. Try not to just to conclusions so fast. .

You can "think" what you want. It is not I, using God's Word to justify a worship day created by men. The mental gymnastics involved at deriving 12/25 from scripture you provide is laughable. I just said so, it is my opinion. I am not the one using scripture and conjecture to make the Word justify anything I do.
To say "we ALL should" is a bold statement, that is my point, perhaps you are the one "not getting it".

Naturally there are going to be disagreements, but when the disagreement is about, why did I open my Bible to read it and study it ( because it offends you ) then I think that is wrong.

While I fault the majority of so called, bible teachers in the world for robing their congregations of the ability to read and study. I would in no way call this gymnastics: me not being all that smart, would still liken this study to, a toddler in a sand pit.

Luke dates this by documenting Zacharias priestly course of Abiah ( as written ) It falls on a specific date . It is written that we should all study, and that it is very good and important. If that study, teaches us about dates things took place in History, then it is important to note those dates ( for those who care ).

No one is worshiping a "day" here, but Christ. The day is about Christ. I'm not talking about Christians for a day. But learning about Christ, and details given us in God's written word.

As a Christian, when I say, we all should ( Christians ) note this day, because it is the day God began to dwell with man on earth. If that is not a reason to note the importance of this time, and keep it from the heathen, then I don't know what would be to you.

Passover, the time Christ gave His life, is another day coming up, and I will make a post showing the Importance of Christ sacrifice on that day too..

What is the logic behind allowing heathen to take a Christian time away from them? It seems people are turning what is right into wrong and wrong into right.

There is nothing wrong with worshiping Christ everyday, and everyday includes the day God came to this earth. I wont apologize for it, and I wont give heathen ground on this day, I rather take ground.

I respectfully disagree with your though... And I'm going to go with what scriptures teach, Today, December the 25th, marks the time God began to dwell with man on earth. Nothing more, and certainly nothing less .

If you dont want to observe this day, and its not important to you, then that is of course your choice naturally .

[h=3]The Birth of Christ[/h]This research paper was design to edify anyone with an open mind and to help understand the birth of Christ. -Author: WebMaster

Research broken down into 4 steps:

Step 1 - Will give us an idea of which month is the first month of the Biblical calendar. With this in mind, it will help us calculate the month of Christ's birth.

Step 2 - Shows that Christ is six months younger than his cousin John the Baptist. Elisabeth (John the Baptist's mother) became pregnant during the time her husband served as priest. We will link this time to the Old Testament to find out what month that is.

Step 3 - Knowing the time of year that both Mary and Elisabeth (cousins) became pregnant, we then calculate the birth of Christ.

Summary - This will summarize the entire research.

[h=3]1. The beginning of the Biblical year[/h]A. Our modern day calendar starts with January which is the middle of winter. According to history, late March to early April is the first of the year, which is around springtime.

March (month), third month of the Gregorian year, according to the present calendar. March was the first month of the Roman year, named for Mars, the god of war. In England, until the Gregorian calendar was adopted in 1752, March was considered the first month with the legal year beginning on March 25. -MS Bookshelf 98

Months names and definition (according to the American Heritage Dictionary):

This table shows that December (the last month of our modern day calendar) is really the 10th month of the Biblical calendar. This will then make January and February the 2 last months of the year. March will then fall in the place of the first month of the year.

B. According to Biblical times, the first month given to the Children of Israel is called Abib or which is now called Nisan in the Hebrew Calendar. This month is a remembrance to them when God took them out of the land of Egypt and into the Promise Land. This they would have to do every year as the Passover.

Exodus 13:4
This day came ye out in the month Abib.

Exodus 23:15
Thou shalt keep the feast of unleavened bread: (thou shalt eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded thee, in the time appointed of the month Abib; for in it thou camest out from Egypt: and none shall appear before me empty:)

Exodus 34:18
The feast of unleavened bread shalt thou keep. Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, as I commanded thee, in the time of the month Abib : for in the month Abib thou camest out from Egypt.

Leviticus 23:5
In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD'S passover.

Deuteronomy 16:1
Observe the month of Abib, and keep the passover unto the LORD thy God: for in the month of Abib the LORD thy God brought thee forth out of Egypt by night.

With our modern day calendar, Easter and Passover are celebrated during the months of late March and early April.

[h=3]2. Linking the births to the Old Testament[/h]Now having an idea of when the new year begins, throughout the course of time, Christ was born at a certain time of the year. Christ was 6 months younger than John "The Baptist" (his cousin). John was conceived around the time when his father Zacharias completed his term in office as priest.

Luke 1:5
There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.

This chart shows us how King David divided up the priest's office accordingly, starting from the beginning of the year to the end. Zacharias served the 8th term of the year, which was around the time of early July.

[h=3]3. Christ's age difference to John the Baptist[/h]The angel appeared unto Zacharias during his ministration to let him know his wife will bear him a son.

Luke 1:13
But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.

Elisabeth became pregnant after her husband Zacharias executed his term as priest. In the 6th month the Angel appeared unto Mary to also give her a message …

Luke 1:
24. And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying,

25. Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he looked on me, to take away my reproach among men.

26. And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

27. To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.

28. And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

29. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

30. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

31. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

32. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

33. And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

34. Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

35. And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

36. And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.

37. For with God nothing shall be impossible.

38. And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

* The biblical term "to know" someone means to have laid with that person.
Example: According to Matthew 1:24-25 Mary was a virgin until Christ was born.

Matthew 1:
24. Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:

25. And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
