I would like to keep this as simple as possible, short n simple n easy XD

some info

for almost a year ive been having a burden and passion, to know the Lord as intimately as possible and some questions i have to ask.

-How do i apply the Word in my life...?

-How do i know when the spirit is guiding me when i read the scriptures...?

-How can i hear the still voice of the Holy spirit? its been frustrating trying to understand.

-God keeps telling me to be patient and wait upon him. What could he be saying?
(could this apply to all areas of life, or to my burden to know him?)

God bless you all

p.s. first time asking a question in this forum yay!! lol

Just for a start - Im sure others will offer heaps of good advise - Get into a good local fellowship, its amazing how much you can grow when you around other people that seek Him honestly and genuinely, and some that have been doing so for years n years. Learn to love each other and God will teach you massively, and you will grow so much closer to Him. Sometimes we learn to hear Him in others and through others before we begin to discern clearly in ourselves - sometimes.

I think Paul gives good advice in 1Thess 5:17 when he tells us to pray constantly.

The Lord will guide you through you life if you let him.

I would suggest you read the entire Bible, not just bits and pieces. It isn’t that long of a book, is it?

The Lord speaks to us in his own due time. He will decide when the time has come—it does not help for us to rush him. Be patient.

The two great commandments are found in Matthew 22:34-40. This is what the Lord wants you to do—obey these two commandments.

First question. You apply it by reading it, and seeing what God seems to be saying in the verse. You observe what it says. Then see what it means. Then see what areas of your life you can apply it to.

Second question - Don't over complicate this. Yes sometimes we are lead to read certain scriptures, at other times we simply have to read something. Chances are, any portion of the scripture you're reading should be followed. So if you're reading it, consider that God's leading.

Third question. That's a tough one to explain man. All I can say, is that often believers sit around waiting for some mystical revelation, when all God wants them to do is simply read his word, learn his will and follow it accordingly. When you were a kid, sometimes you didn't always have to hear your parents tell you to do, what they wanted you to do. Why? Because you knew their will already. You didn't have to wait for them to say to take out the trash. You knew if it was full, it was their will for you to take it out. It's often the same with God.

Four question- Waiting on God. He could be saying many things. He could be saying to give your problems over to Him and let him deal with your cares. He could be saying chill out, sit down and be quiet and just rest in his presence. He could be saying to go on about life, moving forward, yet also waiting on him to open and close doors.

One word of caution on 'waiting on God'. Some people use 'waiting on God' as an excuse for inaction or as an excuse to avoid making tough decisions. It's always nice to have the waiting on God card, when you're too fearful to make a decision or face reality.

That's my take on it.

Edge i wish to give you some advice from my heart. To all others i mean no offence. My advice is to stay away from all churches at least until your foundations are laid. Learn no other's doctrine until the spirirt that grows in you is able to discern Christs truth from mans 'truth'. Start by concentrating on what Christ is telling us in the gospels, apply it to the best of your ability in small steps to begin with. Be aware of your words and deeds for Christ, make changes for Him in yourself and He will reward you with knowledge, slowly at first, like a new born He will feed you with milk ( basic truth) gradually feeding your spirit until you're ready for solids (deeper understanding). It is called submitting. He requires it before He can feed us. He isn't powerless, if you begin consciously restraining yourself for Him which is called sacrificing for Him, He will guide you to His truth. Let no man cheat you out of His love, faith is not enough and blind faith very dangerous. May God guide you in truth.

To wait means more to than just sit there and wait. Think about what a waitress does at a resteraunt. She serves the customers.

Your "advice" goes against all that scripture says.

Agreed Charisenexelicis! Very dangerous to tell someone something that goes against what God Hinself told us to do. Fellowship is very important, the bible is emphatic about it. To be around like minded people that are running the same race and fighting the same good fight!

for almost a year ive been having a burden and passion, to know the Lord as intimately as possible and some questions i have to ask.

-How do i apply the Word in my life...?

Read it. Learn it. Love it and go do it.

-How do i know when the spirit is guiding me when i read the scriptures...?

God is the word. The word is God so when you read you are being guided whether you feeeeel him or not. God is not always a fuzzy feeling. Sometimes you must just know that you know that you know God is with you. His book is your guide.

-How can i hear the still voice of the Holy spirit? its been frustrating trying to understand.

Stop trying to understand. Pray everyday to have Gods wisdom, his revelations, his thoughts, his heart, to see with his eyes and for his will to be done in your life. Read your word and obey the word. Do your best to be like God. Trust God. His still small voice most of the time will be your thoughts. He gives you his thoughts. Just trust him and know he would never tell you do anything bad. He is love.

-God keeps telling me to be patient and wait upon him. What could he be saying? Wait means wait. Lots of times we want to do things and we want to jump ahead of God. We are in a rush. God isn't in a rush. Maybe there is something he wants you to do and he needs to talk to 100 other people first. And maybe 90 of those people don't understand and think they can't hear Gods voice. Or maybe you need to keep studing your bible.
(could this apply to all areas of life, or to my burden to know him?)

God bless you all

God bless you too!

One question you asked how to recognize his still small voice then you said god told you to wait on him. How did you know god told you to wait on him. It was probly like a thought that popped up out of nowhere. Joyce meyer, perry stone and others have teachings in book or cd that will help you. Start watching tbn or daystar networks. Waiting on god don't mean stop seeking. It means don't move to quick on something without hearing from him. Intake as much of his word as you can daily. Keep your mind stayed on him like a tent stays up from the poles. Hope that helps you
