I think symbolizing real people is a bit hard to swallow for me. And since Greece is west of Israel, I'm a bit confused on what the wise men had to do with them. (Nor do I know where they came from other than "The East.")
So, no. Sorry really didn't answer my question. But I see this has taken off into a few people just wanting to argue because they can, so I'm thinking I might have to do my own homework.

My guess is because the poor Greeks where searching for a better everything... They heard by rumor that Jesus had raised lazurus from the dead so many people wanted to go to see this so called miracle for themselves. They sat what took place and it forever changed their hearts. To me it is a time where people who probable would have never though of having a gentle heart took on the word of God and their hardened hearts were turned and they were in a better place knowing they believed in God.. This would be of importance because it is the begining of people excepting Jesus as being real and changing their hearts. Also this leads up to Jesus going to his death.. So It is in the bible as proof that even the hardest of hearts can change and love God.
25He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
