Reciently, with al the calling of one or another a wolf in sheeps clothing, I began to question exactly what this is.
Now, I have seen those that perposely seek to steal and destroy all it can in the church, ( body of Christ).
But I wondered if there is more to this wolf.
So one wolf, is one that knowingly, perposely, steals and destroys.
But I also wondered if another wolf is where satan hides in one that is simply not compleatly in Jesus.
Another words, satan takes advantage of one that is weak, hiding within that one, in order to steal and destroy.
Im sure this may seem like a silly question, but if one is unknowingly being used, passing judgement can do great harm to one that is weak.
So Id like clarification in this.
Please share what understanding in Jesus you have.

I also ask in Jesus, that this post does not become another outlet for accusations or judgements. :)
I am just seeking clarification.

In Jesus, thankyou and God bless.

john 10:12. Hireling. The Mishnah mentions four kinds of bailees (guardians): “a gratuitous bailee, a borrower, a paid bailee, and a hirer. A gratuitous bailee must swear for everything [if the bailment is lost or destroyed through any cause, excepting negligence, the unpaid trustee must swear to the occurrence, and is free from liability]. A borrower must pay for everything. A paid bailee or a hirer must swear concerning an animal that was injured, captured [in a raid] or that perished; but must pay for a loss or theft” (Baba Meẓi’a 7. 8, in Soncino ed. of the Talmud, p. 537). The same tractate sets forth the responsibility of the guardian as follows: “[If] one wolf [attacks], it is not an unavoidable accident; if two [attack], it is an unavoidable accident. … [The attack of] two dogs is not an unavoidable accident. … A robber’s [attack] is an unavoidable accident. [Damage done by] a lion, bear, leopard, panther and snake ranks as an unavoidable accident. When is this? If they came [and attacked] of their own accord: but if he [the shepherd] led them to a place infested by wild beasts and robbers, it is no unavoidable accident” (ibid. 7. 9, Soncino ed. of the Talmud, p. 540).
The hireling cares more for his hire than for the sheep. He does not take a personal interest in the flock (cf. 1 Peter 5:2). The hour of danger distinguishes him from the true shepherd.

The wolf catcheth them. According to the Mishnah, if only one wolf attacked, the shepherd was held accountable for the flock; if two, it was counted as an unavoidable accident (see above under “Hireling”). But the true shepherd would risk his life to protect the flock. Compare Matt. 10:6; Acts 20:29.

I was reading your description and I got the image of taking a viper to breast, I believe sometimes people unintentionally take doctrines or beliefs that are not from God into their hearts and that causes a slow poison to seep into their life. It causes them to get arrogant, prideful. It whispers how they know more, are more righteous, are closer to God, are more spiritual, deserve more, are better then others. It blinds them from some key scriptures and hardens their heart with pride and their own self-righteousness claiming it is God's righteousness they are clothed with, but through the deceptive glasses of a harden heart they do not see the tattered rags their cloaks of righteousness has become. A new stain every time they belittle another, another tear as they use their words to cut into the heart of a believer in Christ by telling that child of their imperfection and unworthiness, instead of focusing on God's love and His ability to clean, heal and forgive if only they repent and see for themselves their own sin.

The focus moves from grace to works. moves from God to what man must do to perform and make themselves worthy instead of what God does and how God's love and guidance is all that is needed. How God will guide people to His perfect works, not how works will guide people to God. It moves from Prayer and an inner personal relationship with God to performance and an outward show of works by man.

When the light is diminished and people walk in their own sparks instead of the light of the Lord, then they begin to ask why others are not on fire like they are? why others are residing peacefully in God instead of frenzily seeking to justify themselves? why others do not view the world as they do? then they begin their attack and they attempt to get others to pick up the snake of works salvation and take it to their breasts as well.

It is not that we should not do works for the Glory of God but it is why that is questioned.

Do you do it TO BE saved or do you do it because you ARE saved?

So I don't see wolves pickles but I do see some people who like to play with snakes.

May God show them His truth and they through His grace tear down any stronghold or power in their mind and heart that tries and wars against the knowledge of God.

Isaiah 59:4-6
New King James Version (NKJV)
4 No one calls for justice,
Nor does any plead for truth.
They trust in empty words and speak lies;
They conceive evil and bring forth iniquity.
5 They hatch vipers’ eggs and weave the spider’s web;
He who eats of their eggs dies,
And from that which is crushed a viper breaks out.
6 Their webs will not become garments,
Nor will they cover themselves with their works;
Their works are works of iniquity,
And the act of violence is in their hands.

Isaiah 50:11
Look, all you who kindle a fire, Who encircle yourselves with sparks: Walk in the light of your fire and in the sparks you have kindled— This you shall have from My hand: You shall lie down in torment.

Some days I think all we can do is pray that God protect us all and lead us away from iniquity and temptations and draw us toward His upward call.

Philippians 3:13-15
New King James Version (NKJV)
13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
15 Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you.

You have to think what wolves do. They devour. Ever watch the animal shows an seen them rip to pieces some poor animal. Many people have dreams of of the lion ripping people or the sheep to pieces. They are out for blood.

This is exactly what I was asking, that one who though believes they follow Jesus does not.
But ,one must ask if the person trully sought Jesus, or who they wanted Jesus to be.
As another spoke to in this thread, Jesus does not let anything snach you from His hand.
So the simple conclusion is that any wolf in sheeps clothing, did nt enter through the gate, but another way! :)
I was simply triing to disern if one who is weak could be used. :)
Thankyou for your answer.

God bless.

Thank God we have his Armor!
Ephians 6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

There are many other Scriptures which deal with the subject of judging but they do not disagree with the Scriptures used here. When a Christian refuses to judge, they are setting themselves up for a fall. It is imperative that Christians establish judgmental mindsets when it comes to bible teachings from teachers. (2 John 1:4 KJV) I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father. This verse teaches us that God is glorified when His children are walking in truth. Truth walking requires judgment on the part of the child of God. The only way you can know that you are walking in truth is that you have judged your doctrine according to the Scriptures. (Eph 4:14 KJV) That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

(2 Tim 4:3 KJV) For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

2 Timothy 4:3 describes the time which we are living in. Don’t be deceived by the smooth talkers and those who think they have discovered something new!

Does this call for extreme name calling...No. But opposition is needed. But the bible doesnt leave us clueless how to oppose. And how to shake dust.

it is in putting on His armor that we find rest in Jesus, knowing He is always with us in every way.
I know on my own, it would not be pretty.
I know it may sound silly, but when I consider all that is Gods care and gift to us in Jesus, I start to tear up, not because of sadness, but because of the relief and joy in Jesus.
Ive seen the wolves, not a good sight.
Ill keep my eye on Jesus!

Thankyou for posting this, it is always a good read!

Firstly pickles, with all honor and respect, to have a thought us dangerous here on cc. For all the best intentions people have it's the fruit shown in how they share, correct and admonish. When the backbiting starts it's the same as wolves biting each other or as you said a weak one deceived biting it into their submission. All is ever needed is to meet people where they are at and patiently over time share truths against misconceptions and pray between contacts.
We all drag our coffin around, flesh eager to jump up and self justify itself and then a stubborn hard hearts refuses to believe they have erred but come up with "I did it with love as my motivation, I'm defending the faith, it's says rebuke, have to by force etc etc" all self justifying their actions.
Took me a while to realise what I was doing in my walk, praise God I had good patient loving people that accepted me as I was yet pointed out my fruit compared to the holy spirit when communicating with people.
You know even after a heated debate we should be able to walk away with love towards a person enough to pray non judgemently, say sorry for how we ourselves were and ask Him to help us next time round cause it will come round, maybe not same person but same situation, that's how we learn that we have matured in spirit.

Group hug??? Lol

Funny thing is, the thought wasnt about any here. :)
The conversations just got me thinking about what is a wolf. :)
Ive had times where I saw this wolf through out my life, and in compassion, considered , could one be used, unknowingly by the wolf.
Simply because there were those that even though were a wolf, I knew were very damaged and broken.
The word spoken about Jesus not letting any take one from His hands , helped me to see that only one seeking self, rather than Jesus, would be subject.
I did find it nteresting though that some thought I was speaking directly to some here.
If any thought I was thinking they were this, forgive me, it was not my intention, it was simply a honest question about wolves, brought to mind because it was brought up.
Im with you and all here in a big huge group hug, mostly because we all could use a hug! :)

No, it's in general, here is a great example of how life plays out. We all can get offended, Jesus says "offense will come" it's if we respond by the Spirit to if or react by the flesh, taking that thought captive that determines to ourselves how we're travelling

its true we can't control what happens to us. only God can, but if we truly trust God and His love for us we can know that in the end it will work out for the good of us, our families and the world.

we can't control all the events of our lives but we can control ourselves and our reactions :)

Sometimes speaking through simple posts does have a cost.
We cannot see the heart of the words spoken in Jesus. :)

I was thinking about wolves a bit more last night and how they attack.
A wolf always first disables it's victems first.
Making it easy to devower it's pray, power over it.
Saddly this is how the same in sheeps clothing works, disabeling the body, so it is at the mercy of the wolf.
Praise God we have the care, protection and mercy given in Jesus!

Pickles the ones that are mislead by the false teachers are mislead becasue they know not the Word of God... God said my people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge... We know it is God's knowledge.... If you know the Word of God, and believes the word NOBODY can distract you from the GOAL!!!

So the wolvs that gets the sheep, is becasue the shepard they follow is a hireling... Jesus says He will NEVER abandon HIS sheep, even if the pack of wolves comes... And Jesus says His sheep knows His voice, becasue Jesus gave them HIS WORD. And they know His voice, becasue they KNOW HIM.

If you agree with what I write here, it is becasue you agree JESUS said that and ANOTHER TRUTH IN making you more Godly knowledgeable...

May we be blessed with the SHEPHARD!!!
Good answer.

Those that repeat what they have been taught are not wolves, the teacher, and pastors that teach falsely are.
