The fatherless and the widows were to be cared for by the church. Women are not to usurp the authority of men in the church and when they do so in the home there is strife.

well of course their are many mothers as the head of the family ...for whatever reason and God exspects the children to obey the mother just as they would the father...they have spiritual authority over the children that God clearly honors...and If God places a woman in a position of authority, they are not guilty of usurping anyone! If a woman takes this position apart from Gods calling her, then that would be usurping. Also as I have stated before Paul goes on to teach that a woman is delivered from this transgression of eve...if they continue faithfully in the Lord.

March is our 35th anniversary. My wife no doubt has many equals; but there are no women better.

I guess we all should pray for her... :)

Sorry I went over your head. Sermonizing is taking the liberty to illustrate what the scriptures teach from the perspective of the person speaking. It is not necessary to add illustrations to Gods word. Gods word is sufficient to draw men to Christ. The Holy Spirit minsters through the word of God to bring conviction of sin, righteousness and judgment. God indeed does it all.

You have implied that sermonizing requires a pulpit on Sunday morning. My error for not providing more specific information.

Roger
To sermonize is to give a sermon or lengthy talk. Your pastor giving a sermon is sermonizing.

I bet these guys who are doing all this big man.. religious talk are afraid of their wives and this is their only outlet they have to get even for the fear they have of her? :(

Haha you cannot choose grace. God gave grace you don't get to choose it.

The actual question is "if God did not give us grace would you choose Him?"
You must choose. God is not going to choose for you against your will.

Have you accounted for Gods mercy?

Are you suggesting the God is pleased with that situation? Is it not Gods plan to have a husband and a wife in the family? Do not make God the author of sins consequences.

You confuse Gods mercy with Gods original intent.

What? its a fact! and in your own church you have single mothers that are the head of their family ...so don't be religious and we can have a honest discussion of the issue.

Ok let me explain this to you. Eph 2:8 "By grace you have been saved". God gave grace. Now to finish "through faith, and that not of yourselves;" it's by God you didn't choose grace because God gave grace. How can you choose something that was given?

And you confuse God's Sovereignty with everything else because if God is Sovereign then that means you are not sovereign. So again I ask.

If God did not give us grace would you choose God?

If God is Sovereign then why can He not set up a woman as pastor of a church? Because Paul wrote in 1 Tim that women can't be head of a church? Different time, different circumstances, different culture and God never said this is a commandment for my church heirarchy. In fact if a woman would be a better leader for a church what do you think God would do?

Your'e gonna have to splain this to me.
Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written. John 21:25

I believe it is highly likely that not all of God's creative grandeur is revealed in Scripture. Think of it this way, obviously not everyone who has ever become a minister is directly named in Scripture, yet God called them into His ministry. It seems that some brethren believe that if it's not written, it cannot be, and I respectfully disagree.

Hi all,
Isnt it the reason does a women should not be an Pastor is in the fact, that Gods word not want it, because of an event which has been in the begining of manhood? You can read in Genesis 3,15-17; And in 1. Tim.2,12-14 Paul called Genesis 3 as reason; It is not because a women could it not. It is not because the men could it better. It is because of the sin which Eva did! Well this theme is really difficult. What I see in germany today. Curches and Denominations which claim 100 ore more years ago that women should not be a Pastor slowly changed their mind. Today to say that women cant be a pastor you will get much trouble. But for my understanding the truth of the bible is not depend of the timespirit, what is in in the world; what the people like to do. The truth which was 2000 years ago is the same today. But more and more people doubt this and make the word of God according their own will.
You can find in the bible about important themes clear statemants to understand. The ordination from a women is in no single vers clear zu read. If you find one, please let me know.
And again this is not against women as many people (in germany) telling that Paul was a women hater. It is gods word for the church. Believe it ore not!

I did more than that now. I am sure I got a few people upset with me. But I refuse to candy coat God's Word because someone else doesn't like it.

God spoke through a donkey but He can't speak through women? Wow amazing!!!
God can speak through a child does that mean the child can be a pastor ?
Was the donkey a pastor ?

There are indeed a few child preachers, and in time, many will become pastors.

Was the donkey a pastor? That's silly; but lessons have been learned from that donkey.

I am a woman and an ordained pastor. I am not the only woman on this site who is.

Suffice it to say, a study of the original Greek, free of the prejudices of translators, brings out the fact that not only were women called, but they were leaders in the early church.

"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." Gal. 3:28

God has opened up amazing doors for me to minister as a chaplain, including preaching, teaching and visitation. I did not begin my ministry until I had done a thorough study of the Bible to be certain that God called me and there was much work to be done.

Really, it is absurd to think that over 50% of the church is not allowed to minister, because of a difference in one chromosome. But more important is what God's Word says.

I have posted repeatedly on this topic, and I am really not well right now, but if this thread continues, or perhaps on another thread, I will present the incontrovertible evidence that women can be pastors, and not only when a man is unavailable.

"For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable." Romans 11:29
Angela, you and I see a lot of things alike, but this isn't one of them. I am not going to come back into this discussion. Much has been said. If someone wants to know what I said it is easy enough to look up past posts. I will say this about your statement tho; You quote Paul in the highlighted portion of Galatians, yet ignore him when he speaks directly on this matter. By so doing you simply make impossible to present "incontrovertible evidence".

That is not an accurate statement by a long ways.
