"29 Then He touched their eyes, saying, "According to your faith let it be to you."...30 And their eyes were opened..." - Matthew 9:29-30

I just wanted to share briefly that there are some things God desires to give us or provide us, but those things will not come without us having faith in Him to perform it or provide it for us.

I have a friend, who for a time, did not believe that speaking in tongues was available for the modern church.

He gradually came to a point where He believed that speaking in tongues could happen in the modern church and more recently came to believe that he could speak in tongues if God wanted him to.

The point I'm getting at is that he came to have faith that God could perform it or provide it for him.

Just a few days ago, He was praying and He saw a vision of God the Father and Jesus in heaven and a mist around the throne. The mist started coming toward him and when it reached him...he began speaking in tongues.

Pretty amazing experience for anyone, but even more amazing for a guy who enjoys his scripture reading from a MacArthur study bible ha ha ha.

Anyway, he never would have experienced God's gift or provision without having had the faith in God for Him to provide it or perform it in him.

According to your faith, let it be done to you.

Just thought I'd share about my friend and a bit of scripture for whomever to enjoy.

Something I have learned personally, we can ask and we can receive, but we have to DO. And by this I mean we have to MEAN it , we have to KNOW it, and we have to WALK it. Thank you for this.

Hi Raina,

I'm not sure. No one else was there except his wife while he was praying just before bed. Both of them only speak English.

1Cr 14:2 For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands [him]; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.

That is what Apostle Paul taught about tongues, when there was no one around who understood the language, or had the gift of interpretation to share the meaning of what was spoken.

That's not the ONLY thing he taught about tongues, but whatever.

It's good that your friend was edified.

Yes, doing, meaning, knowing, and walking can all be expressions of faith concerning a promise. Everything you said about it can be seen in Abraham's example of faith :)

"16 Abraham, who is the father of us all...18 who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations...19 And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah's womb. 20 He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform." -Romans 4:16, 18-20

No, definitely not the only thing. Glad to hear you are more informed about it :)

Yeah, I'm pretty happy that my friend was able to enjoy a gift from God in such a powerful way considering the views that he had previously held to.

I hope he prays about it and figures out what he was saying so he can share it with others. :)
