So you LaurenTM look to what men say instead of what the Scriptures say?

TOO much Religion? How can anyone have TOO much of Jesus? How can anyone Worship Jesus TOO much?

Take your eyes off the world and come back to Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

God gave us wine to enjoy. If you do not like this then you need to take it up with God. Its people like you who put themselves in charge, teaching others what not to do, while at the same time you refuse to do what God says.

Take your eyes off what others do and follow Jesus. God will discipline those who need to be disciplined. Your not God.

have a comprehension problem there Mikey?

I was agreeing with you

other people understood it that way

I think you need some wine right now

for the record? I don't say HATE a whole lot? BUT I HATE what you have said with regards to your cliche comments misdirected at me

which ones?

oh the I have sat on a church pew so long my butt is fossilized comebacks at me I have highlighted for your convenience above

sounds like you are wound awful tight...way too tight for me to bother again

Hilarious!..good one brother!...can't you just see the "joy of the Lord" on their faces?

....the funny thing is that prohibition caused more people to drink ( just like the Law inflames sin as Paul said ) .....my goodness religion is just so dumb!

Sorry LaurenTm, but i have been abused and attacked my whole life since i was born. Abused and attacked by my dad just because i was not his child. Because of this, my outlook at others is colored by what has happened in my life.

I guess i'm just to quick to defend myself.

Do you all know the difference between Catholics and Baptists when it comes to alcohol? Catholics will actually acknowledge each other at the liquor store. :D

I suppose for those who are deluded and do have a problem we shouldn't give them the idea that its ok and they can keep doing what they are doing.

If it is bugging your conscience you better do something about it.

If its not bugging your conscience then try not to say or do things that will bug others consciences... If you can.

The Word says all things are lawful but they are not all a good idea. If you can have a beer or two and stop then enjoy. I was born with flesh that has a disease called alcoholism. I can not drink at all. Thanks to God's saving grace I am now a new creation. That new creation does not drink. This is not by any willpower or anything else I do it is by the grace of God.
I find celebrate recovery meetings to be helpful and I find it's God's grace that gets me to those meetings.
I have lost far too many friends to death from addiction to really care about a forum's opinion on what I know to be fact. I am posting this to give anyone struggling hope and to let them know Jesus can and will heal you.

Proverbs 20:1, Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

Facts:
83% of all fire fatalities in America are alcohol related
68% of all drownings are alcohol related
80% of all suicides are alcohol related
40% of industrial fatalities are alcohol related
65% of child abuse cases are alcohol related

The leading cause of mental retardation is alcohol use during pregnancy.

25,000 Americans die every year in alcohol related accidents. That's 70 per day.

And yet, Americans spend over 50,000,000,000 a year on alcohol consumption.

Should not we, the church, cry out against this killer and destroyer of families? Why preach moderation? We don't preach moderation when it comes to cocaine. What's keeping Christians in America from crying out against all alcohol use? Do we also want to drink that bad and blame it own "wine is good for the heart" or "it helps me relax." It's total nonsense. Let the facts speak for themselves.

This is exactly what I was wanting to be sensitive to.

The scriptures states no drunkards will inhert God kingdom. I would draw the line at only drinking on special occasions. Too many people easily fall into addiction because they use alcohol to help cope with the problems in their lives.

The fact is that not everyone has a problem with it.

Alcohol is not the problem. Alcohol is an inanimate object.

People are the problem.

Not everyone who drinks is drunk.
Not everyone who drives a car crashes.
Not everyone who owns a gun shoots people.
Not everyone who eats is fat.
Not everyone who works can't put it away when they get home.
Not everyone who has sex is a sex-addict.

But there are a percentage of the population that has a problem with every single one of those things.

My solution to all of these problems is the Lord Jesus Christ.

I really don't understand how people without Christ cope. Maybe that's why they have so many problems to begin with.

Why preach moderation?
Because that is what Jesus taught.

Prohibition, as stated before, doesn't work, for the most part.

Teach people HOW to live in Jesus, don't give them a bunch of "thou shalt nots"... we live by principles, not laws/rules.
