Is there anyone else who realizes that Eve's quote to the serpent (Gen 3:2-3) of the
Commandment is a rather perverted one in comparison to what the Lord God told
Adam (Gen2:16-17), and as such, is the proof she was already deceived even before
that day?

(Genesis 2:16) And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

(Genesis 2:17) But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

~~~~
(Genesis 3:2) And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
(Genesis 3:3) But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
So whats the perversion exactly?
You are not alone. I understand what you are trying to say though I believe you may approach it wrong. You are however, correct in some ways.
Isaiah 25:6-8
6And in this mountain shall the LORD of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.
7And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations.
8He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.
So whats the perversion exactly?
Do you not see that she said they could not touch the fruit, which the LORD God never
said? Or do you realize that she neglected to say the name of the forbidden tree, which
leaves room for doubt that she even knew it? Or do you not realize how she
referenced the forbidden tree as being the only tree in the center when in fact that
there are two? Do you know that the woman was deceived and her testimony is the
proof? If you cannot see these simple differences, then you will never be able
to rightly-divided the Word: and even more, because you do not understand these
simple things, you can in no way understand the subtlety of the serpent by which he
deceived Eve, so you can still fall victim to it. God help you, because you cannot help yourself.
I think it goes to show truth. Since she did not understand the command, It led to temptation. Temptation led to sin; If she understood completely what God was trying to say, and trusted him completely. she would have never fail.
It was her lack of faith in God which caused her to sin.
Satan just used this lack of faith to decieve her.
Regardless to what God said, Eve knew she wasn't suppose to eat from the very tree she ate from, and she did.
Further more we are only drawn away by our own lust
God does not putting us in a loosing battle and then tell us to win it.
What? What is so hard to understand about 'don't eat'. Can you not see that her testimony proves she was already deceived? She did not lack faith: but, she did beleive an untruth, which is key to understanding not only how she was deceived by subtlelty, but also who deceived her.
What?
If you don't believe what is is said, and believe an untruth. You lack faith in what was true.
A person who has faith can not be decieved. for they would trust the truth which would keep them from falling to temptation.
If your told don't jump off a skyscraper or you will die. and you have faith that this is true. No one could ever tempt you to jump off the skyscraper.
We get the general sense from God that they were not to eat from that tree.
We get the general sense from Eve that she knew what God was gettin at.
I don't think we can take the specific words Eve says, compare them to what God said, and then say she didn't have a clue.
She clearly had a clue and anyone who can't see this, is just parsing words, splitting hairs and in general making things more difficult than they gotta be.
I mean if a parent says to a kid, "Don't eat those cookies in the red cookie jar."
Then the friend of the kid later comes to him and says, "Hey eat those cookies in the red cookie jar."
And the kid replies with, "No I'm not to put my hands in the cookie jar and eat the cookies."
No one in their right mind is gonna say the kid didn't get the point, because he said things to his friend differently. The kid just said the general sense in different words.
Eve said the general intent of God's command in different words.
She clearly understood it.
i agree. it is not that she did not know. if she did not know she could not be held accountable. It is that she did not trust God. it was lack of faith.
Actually she wasnt held accountable per say, because the serpent deceived her. Adam committed the first sin, because he rebelled without deception. However I do agree with still waters point, because she adding and do not touch, doesnt mean she didnt know that she wasnt supposed to eat it. She clearly did know that.
However one thing that has not been stated in this thread so far is that SS believes that Adam is the serpent/ Satan who deceived Eve.
Oh just sitting here, wondering if there is a substantive difference between these two statements..
1. Don't put that food in your mouth.
2.Don't place that food between your teeth, above your tongue and under the roof of your mouth, and behind your lips.
:p jk
Nice to see a simple analogy to aid understanding.
Paul certainly knew what happened in the garden of Eden. Otherwise he could not have
admonished the Corinthian church, "But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled
Eve through his craftiness, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is
in Christ."
In view of the fall, the apostle writes further, "And Adam was not deceived, but
the woman, being deceived, was in the transgression."
The apostle John also knew what happened in the garden of Eden for he writes, ". . . not as
Cain, who was of that wicked one."
We also must remember that enmity was put between the two seeds, "And I will put
enmity between . . . THY seed and her seed."
With the aid of the serpent, Satan came into
the human race to destroy God's order. And the enmity is still there.
I cannot think of another man who has seen Satan besides Jesus. Again, Serpentslayer has a point.
