Adam<---it was the woman you gave me
Eve<----it was the serpent

I would not take it that far to say that everyone who is lost would try and justify sin....there are some, (maybe many) who are saved and get nailed in sin that will argue why they did it or try and place blame on others....which is in essence justifying their actions....IMV
This reminds me what my older brother would say when the three of us were together and Mom discovered something we did wrong. He was perfectly honest all the time. He'd say, "I didn't see myself do it."

Now the other two of us were kind of stuck at that point -- couldn't use the same excuse, and worse yet, we couldn't laugh because Mom was all serious. Fortunately, that tended to make her laugh, so he got us all off the hook. lol

For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, Hebrews 10:26

Threads of this sort is proof that the questioner doesn't trust the truth, and also knows very little about the nature of the human that is clearly defined in scripture.
So, if we commit even one willful sin after salvation, then we're - what? Lost?

You say I don't trust the truth, but actually, I do. I trust that Jesus accomplished all that was needed for my salvation on the cross. I trust He died for my sins, and rose from the dead on the third day. I trust that the work for my salvation is finished, and that the seal of the Holy Spirit guarantees my acceptance into God's heaven. There is nothing I could do, nor can do, to gain or keep my salvation - because it isn't about me - it's all about Christ. I contribute nothing.

I can't believe people have such a hard time accepting grace for what it is; unmerited favor.

Unmerited means there is no obligation on your part, because it cannot be earned in any way. There can be no mixing of grace with works to obtain/retain salvation.

I cannot be any more or any less saved because of how I live my life. Jesus promised that I shall never perish, and that no one can snatch me out of His hand - not even myself. (John 10:28)

If it were possible, then Jesus lied.

I accept His grace, unconditionally.

"If by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace." (Romans 11:6)
