If you are referring to the anointing oil which Was poured out upon the priests and the tabernacle under the Old Covenant, then that could only be made as stipulated in the OT. And everyone else was FORBIDDEN from making it.

EXODUS 30: ANOINTING OIL WAS RESTRICTED BY GOD
22 Moreover the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
23 Take thou also unto thee principal spices, of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of sweet calamus two hundred and fifty shekels,
24 And of cassia five hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of oil olive an hin:
25 And thou shalt make it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary: it shall be an holy anointing oil.
26 And thou shalt anoint the tabernacle of the congregation therewith, and the ark of the testimony,
27 And the table and all his vessels, and the candlestick and his vessels, and the altar of incense,
28 And the altar of burnt offering with all his vessels, and the laver and his foot.
29 And thou shalt sanctify them, that they may be most holy: whatsoever toucheth them shall be holy.
30 And thou shalt anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, thatthey may minister unto me in the priest's office.
31 And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, This shall be an holy anointing oil unto me throughout your generations.
32 Upon man's flesh shall it not be poured, neither shall ye make any other like it, after the composition of it: it is holy, and it shall be holy unto you.
33 Whosoever compoundeth any like it, or whosoever putteth any of it upon a stranger, shall even be cut off from his people.
But as paul said we are priest in Christ.

The oil is a symbol of the Holy Spirit. If I believe it is important I will use actual oil when praying for others. I’ve used common household cooking oil and olive oil. But again, the oil is not special or magical; the Spirit does the work.

The people of the old testament were under the old covenant. Under this covenant, the commands of God, and the way God taught the people was through fleshly commands. They were like schoolmasters, leading people to learning. There was spiritual significance in all the commands. Christ fulfilled all of it and put these commands into their spiritual meaning into our hearts and minds.

Read every scripture that mentions this oil but read it under the new covenant. Look for the spiritual meaning of the oil. Follow every instruction in truth and light. That is the anointing oil under the new covenant.

Sorry brother not so😔😔

I have searched scripture to learn this, and I do not speak for myself, I speak of what scripture says.

Read the sermon on the mount, and see how Christ changed all law from law in stone to law of the heart. Read in Jeremiah to find out that there is a difference in the way law is presented to us--it is the same law but now not in stone (fleshly) but to the heart.

Circumcision is an example. The command went from fleshly cutting to mark to marking spiritually. In the same way, literal oil has changed from the literal to the spiritual.

Can anyone tell me, is there anywhere in the bible that says we can make our own anointing oil? If so can you tell me where?
And is there anywhere in the bible that tells you how or what types of oils to use and a prayer for blessing it?
Or can I make it but have to bring it to an elder of the church to have it blessed, or do I have to just get it from them all together.
Thank you
Sure you can. Folks back then had to make their own. It isn't a secret formula or any such. You can do a "search" for the ingredients they used...... OR ....... you can use Virgin Olive Oil.

Just be careful if you substitute a different oil from the one made based on Scripture.

I knew a couple who were praying for a child, but no matter what they tried, they could just not make it worl. FINALLY, they called their Pastor to come over and anoint and pray over them for God to give them a child. As it happened, he forgot his anointing oil, and asked what they had.....all they had was a wee bottle of 3 in 1 Oil. He said, the miracle isn't in the oil but in the belief/faith/prayer. So he anointed them and nine months later they had triplets.............. :) They told the Pastor they were happy, but they SURE WERE GLAD HE DIDN'T USE WD 40!

I think a lot of things have to do with the attitudes of our hearts. I do not think the type of oil limits things. Many use olive oil though it is not specifically prescribed. I think it is the act of obedience, sincere prayer of openness to God's will, our repentance and belief in his healing that are what is essential. I offer this, not as definitive, but what I've been taught, and seen. Bless you.
Indeed so, the type/constitution of oil (under the New Covenant), has absolutely no bearing on what the receiver will get from God through the vessel/channel.

The person using the anointing oil MUST be pure in heart, filled with love, the Holy Spirit (i.e., themselves have a good anointing) and faith and be leading a godly prayerful life, and so have something from God to give to the receiver! James 5v13-18, Psalm 133, Acts 6v3-5, Mark 6v7,13, 1Cor 12v31, 14v1.

Anything else is simply play acting and indeed so often I have seen pastors laying hands on believers who have absolutely nothing from God to give and are simply charlatans, with the result the person is NOT healed (or blessed) and so they become so depressed and suffer a real drop in their faith because of spiritually slothful pastors and others who give themselves a ministry label, but are NOT appointed by God!

ANOINTING, which comes through MANY hours of seeking the Lord Jesus is EVERYTHING! James 4v6-8.

This response may seem harsh saint but then why did the christ die a physical death?

Scripture usually says simply that the apothecaries made the anointing oil. It also often mentions that spices were added to the oil, but I don't find the name of the spices. I use frankincense and myrrh and find them very useful.

There is a recipe for spices in Exodus 30:23."Take the following fine spices: 500 shekels[a] of liquid myrrh, half as much (that is, 250 shekels) of fragrant cinnamon, 250 shekels[b] of fragrant calamus," Good luck in following this!

A recipe for making the oil is found in Exodus 30:24-31.
