Romans Chapter 10

9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

I voted based on this definition: one who confessed that they are a sinner, asked for forgiveness, and accepted Jesus Christ as their atonement for their sins (i.e., as their Saviour and Messiah).

Edit: Oh, and welcome to CC!

As in accepted Gods Gift Saved, examples Faith in Christ Repenting, and believing, Confessing, claiming him as Lord over your life, Bearing Fruit that a true follower of Jesus would, etc etc Im sorry i should of clarified more I hope this does. and this poll was out of love of my heart not to cause strife or anything but Glory to God for your responses. But i see one soul has posted not sure if that soul would message me or anyone else that could help them But above all Message Jesus of course metaphorically speaking of Course. in Christ, Brother Travis.

Saved, would involve repenting and believing the gopsel, AND being born again, that means, born of the Spirit of God. When a sinner is born again, they receive a new nature, the former being a lover of sin, the latter being a lover of God.

I was just listening to you in the lounge, I had some of the same questions about the bible as you. So I personally consider it a miracle that one moment I did not believe and the next I did. I also quickly noticed that things which I once liked to do became offensive to me. I suppose you would likely consider it some sort of brain washing.:)

I am glad to participate in you first poll, however.....

I simply hate this question. Don't get me wrong, I usually love irony, but questioning assurance of faith issues amongst Protestants who are supposed to be preaching once saved always saved is a tired exercise.

Yet, I have found the most insecurity with always saved Protestants, then anywhere else. Questioning a person's salvation is akin to shaking hands in many Protestant circles.

Indeed, I've never been more secure in my relationship with Christ since I became Catholic and my church doesn't teach assurance of faith. Maybe it is because I no longer have to defend my faith by reviewing and reciting the 'asking Jesus into my heart' routine every time I meet a Catholic.

It is funny because people never re-evaluate their relationships with people or animals every time they meet - why do we do it with our closest relationship? No one approaches my wife and I asking, 'are you sure you are married'?

I hear this word “saved” a lot, but it isn’t something I was taught in church, other than the fact that Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins. If you want to be saved, believe in Jesus (John 3:16), right? If you want to enjoy life, repent of your sin (Matt 4:17).
