I guess my amplified version is one of the few that fully describes the Greek phrase. Although many translations don't use that exact phrase, it is definitely the intended use in those sections.

The terms 'letter' and 'spirit' are directly connected to the phrase 'New Covenant' in the sentence structure, signifying that following the letter of the Covenant equals death, and following the spirit of the Covenant equals life.

The Spirit of the Law is the "Word" (LOGOS) {Christ} of John 1:1
This same Spirit of Christ guided the OT prophets according to 1 Peter 1:11
That same Spirit lives within those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 3:6
Rom. 2:28-29
Luke 11:37-52
Luke 18:9-14

These are just a few that show the separation between the letter, and the spirit of the Law.
Yes, the letter (law) and the Spirit are separate.

It is the letter and the law that are not separate.

The distinction between the two IS Biblical.
Following just the letter brings pride. Following the spirit fulfills the letter, AND brings humility.
The "letter" means "law."

So you are saying "following the law brings pride. Following the Holy Spirit fulfills the law, AND brings humility."

Your issue is with Paul, not with me.

"As long as the heir is a child, he is no different than a slave. . .So also, when we were children, we were in slavery under worldly trivial principles. But when the time had fully come (when the heir came of age and was mature enough and sufficiently prepared to take on the duties of his inheritance), God sent his Son. . .to redeem those under the law that we might receive the full rights of sons. . .how is it that you are turning back to those weak, miserable (NIV), beggarly (KJV), worthless (NAS), dead (Heb 6:1, 9:14) principles?"

Take it up with Paul.
I have studied Paul, he is not easy to understand as scripture tells us. It is weak to think we can use physical rituals to save us, it is weak to not take full advantage of Christ. And, yes, it would be nice if we all were so strong spirituals none of us would put dirt in our minds, such as judgments of others apart from judging what is sin. In our church today, everyone is following the world, media, movies, no day devoted to the Lord but a day used for self with shopping and games and such, and nothing they do has, in their mind, any relationship to God principles. So I HAVE taken it up with Paul! Have you taken up with Paul whether you are dedicating all of what you do to the Lord? I have. You seem to be teaching others, in your posts, to live completely outside of what Christ would have us do. You call everything anyone does to follow Christ weak, miserable, dead. You teach that faith is a dead thing, only done in your head without any fruits following. I think that is wrong.

It is so nice to agree on something. Even if it is that God is our judge....:)>)....
But that's a good thing, right?

Well, actually Jesus is our Judge. . .a-n-n-n-n-n-d. . .wait for it. . .our Judge is also our Savior!

How's that for a rigged court?

And I do love ya'.

I have heard bad things about the NIV so I shun it. Though that is purely a personal decision and I do not encourage others to not read it.

I use the NASB as it is very accurate to the Greek and I also read the NLT as it is very easy to read.

NASB is very good!
I prefer NCV over NLT for an easy to read version, just because of the way each was translated.

NIV 1984 is a good version. Some of the more recent editions are... sketchy.

as for judaizers, they are rare in America, or at least my part.

I bought my first NLT reluctantly as the church I attended used it. But I quickly started to like it and when I want to read chapters at a time it is my go to version. Yet, it is technically a paraphrase, not a translation.

I started this thread because I saw a disproportionate amount of people who seemed to be Judaizers. In Christian groups Judaizers are rare but they seem to be growing in numbers on this site. I don't care what others do or say, but the type of gospel the Judaizers peddle is spiritual cyanide. (Gal 5:4)

You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. Gal 5:4 NASB

The old cultural trump card. . .

I have. You seem to be teaching others, in your posts, to live completely outside of what Christ would have us do. You call everything anyone does to follow Christ weak, miserable, dead. Psalms 119

King James Bible
Your Word is a Lamp to My Feet
א
ALEPH.
1Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD.
2Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.
3They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.
4Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.
5O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!
6Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments.
7I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments.
8I will keep thy statutes: O forsake me not utterly.
ב
BETH.
9Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.
10With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.
11Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
12Blessed art thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes.
13With my lips have I declared all the judgments of thy mouth.
14I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches.
15I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.
16I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.
ג
GIMEL.
17Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live, and keep thy word.
18Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.
19I am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me.
20My soul breaketh for the longing that it hath unto thy judgments at all times.
21Thou hast rebuked the proud that are cursed, which do err from thy commandments.
22Remove from me reproach and contempt; for I have kept thy testimonies.
23Princes also did sit and speak against me: but thy servant did meditate in thy statutes.
24Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counsellers.
ד
DALETH.
25My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word.
26I have declared my ways, and thou heardest me: teach me thy statutes.
27Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talk of thy wondrous works.
28My soul melteth for heaviness: strengthen thou me according unto thy word.
29Remove from me the way of lying: and grant me thy law graciously.
30I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments have I laid before me.
31I have stuck unto thy testimonies: O LORD, put me not to shame.
32I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart.
ה
HE.
33Teach me, O LORD, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end.
34Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.
35Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein do I delight.
36Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness.
37Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way.
38Stablish thy word unto thy servant, who is devoted to thy fear.
39Turn away my reproach which I fear: for thy judgments are good.
40Behold, I have longed after thy precepts: quicken me in thy righteousness.
ו
VAU.
41Let thy mercies come also unto me, O LORD, even thy salvation, according to thy word.
42So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word.
43And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; for I have hoped in thy judgments.
44So shall I keep thy law continually for ever and ever.
45And I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts.
46I will speak of thy testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.
47And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved.
48My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in thy statutes.
ז
ZAIN.
49Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope.
50This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.
51The proud have had me greatly in derision: yet have I not declined from thy law.
52I remembered thy judgments of old, O LORD; and have comforted myself.
53Horror hath taken hold upon me because of the wicked that forsake thy law.
54Thy statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage.
55I have remembered thy name, O LORD, in the night, and have kept thy law.
56This I had, because I kept thy precepts.
ח
HETH.
57Thou art my portion, O LORD: I have said that I would keep thy words.
58I intreated thy favour with my whole heart: be merciful unto me according to thy word.
59I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies.
60I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments.
61The bands of the wicked have robbed me: but I have not forgotten thy law.
62At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee because of thy righteous judgments.
63I am a companion of all them that fear thee, and of them that keep thy precepts.
64The earth, O LORD, is full of thy mercy: teach me thy statutes.
ט
TETH.
65Thou hast dealt well with thy servant, O LORD, according unto thy word.
66Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed thy commandments.
67Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word.
68Thou art good, and doest good; teach me thy statutes.
69The proud have forged a lie against me: but I will keep thy precepts with my whole heart.
70Their heart is as fat as grease; but I delight in thy law.
71It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.
72The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.
י
IOD.
73Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.
74They that fear thee will be glad when they see me; because I have hoped in thy word.

God bless

Amplified is good but some people have developed new doctrines based on it. They read a subtle nuance and apply it to a new doctrine. Other than that it is a fine read.

I hope they will lead you in the right direction. Those who are deceived by false doctrines never think so. They all feel very comfortable in their false theology, believing they found truth and teach others to do the same.

That is why Jesus said:
Make sure that the light you think you have is not actually darkness. Luke 11:35

Luke is very enlightening.
[SUP]27 [/SUP]As Yeshua was saying these things, a woman in the crowd raised her voice to call out, “How blessed is the mother that gave birth to you and nursed you from her breast!” [SUP]28 [/SUP]But he said, “Far more blessed are those who hear the word of God and obey it!”

[SUP]29 [/SUP]As the people crowded around him, Yeshua went on to say, “This generation is a wicked generation! It asks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it — except the sign of Yonah. [SUP]30 [/SUP]For just as Yonah became a sign to the people of Ninveh, so will the Son of Man be for this generation. [SUP]31 [/SUP]The Queen of the South will appear at the Judgment with the people of this generation and condemn them; for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Shlomo, and what is here now is greater than Shlomo. [SUP]32 [/SUP]The people of Ninveh will stand up at the Judgment with this generation and condemn it, for they turned to God from their sins when Yonah preached, and what is here now is greater than Yonah.

[SUP]33 [/SUP]“No one who has kindled a lamp hides it or places it under a bowl; rather, he puts it on a stand, so that those coming in may see its light. [SUP]34 [/SUP]The lamp of your body is the eye. When you have a ‘good eye,’ [that is, when you are generous,] your whole body is full of light; but when you have an ‘evil eye,’ [when you are stingy,] your body is full of darkness. [SUP]35 [/SUP]So take care that the light in you is not darkness! [SUP]36 [/SUP]If, then, your whole body is filled with light, with no part dark, it will be wholly lighted, as when a brightly lit lamp shines on you.”

The reasoning is questionable. If one can't get every name pronounced correctly he should get every name pronounced incorrectly?
Those who use the "closer to" Hebrew names, including myself, have never FORCE others to use the same so why do you do that?
If one uses God, or any other name the bible references to God in the new testament, everyone knows who they are talking about. To use old testament nomeclature makes one hesitate, and I am sure for some, stumble around to find out what is being said. To mispell names and words for the reason of "well they didn't have that letter or name in the old testament" is foolish. The KJV new testament does no insult to God or His message, and to pretend it does is sacrilegious.

The one and ONLY path to heaven is thru Christ, and He is formally introduced to us in the new testament. To cling to old testament ways is to show a preference to law, and that won't get you there. There is no profit to be gained by using such unfamiliar terms in public, unless, perhaps, one is trying to puff oneself up?

so sacrifice truth to make the masses happy? stop using the name of Yahweh on your command?

have a nice day sir.
No, stop using hebrew when the greek it was originally in has been translated to english. Why do you post if it isn't so that you can be perfectly understood? You are dabbling in confusion, and you know what the bible says about that.
