Before anyone asks. No I am not advertising King James bible. :)

You shall not spread a false report. You shall not join hands with a wicked man to be a malicious witness. You shall not fall in with the many to do evil, nor shall you bear witness in a lawsuit, siding with the many, so as to pervert justice, nor shall you be partial to a poor man in his lawsuit.

— Exodus 23:1-2

Seems a lot of people here are happy to throw in their opinion as fact into a public forum on subjects they know little about. One person one here is proud to have a closed mind which is astounding.

Please understand there is a punishment for being a false witness. You have a responsibility to verify what you state before you make it public. If you are going to verify what you say you might as well post it so you can reinforce your stand.

That is one of the responsibilities of believing in God. You do what God requests of you. Unless of course you believe God has changed Gods mind over the years.

The commandment speaks to those who deliberately issue a false witness regarding another...not giving a personal opinion.
Additionally you should be glad that in Christ we will not be judged according to the law but have passed from judgment into life.

That's pretty much MY OPINION as well.............in this case, "bearing false witness" is speaking of a person who gives "false testimony" against someone with full knowledge that their testimony IS FALSE.

With regards to Public Forums, I see it this way......

If someone says "in my opinion," or "I believe," or "this is what the Scripture means to me," there is nothing wrong with that, it IS NOT a false witness...........

Now, if someone claims to be a prophet of God (as sometimes happens on Public Forums) and begins to make comments that they hold out as God's word revealed to them to be given to the world..............AND it is obvious that what they are saying IS NOT Biblical............

then this is false prophesy...........and could be considered "false witness" I suppose.......

The "careless word" Scripture is true, but I do not believe it refers to one giving an honest opinion of what a Scripture means to them, rather careless comments with no foundation of Truth.......

(now, these are just my opinions, so................ :) )
