There is not much you can say but you can weep when they weep and mourn with them...it is comforting for people to be able to let their feelings out, scream if you have to.

No matter what kind of death it was (and people can die from all sorts of things, accidentally or deliberately, by their own hand or the hands of others) we can be sad for their loved ones and miss them. Jesus wept when Lazarus died. He didnt say anything. Mary or was it Martha seemed to accuse him of not being there when he died as if he could have prevented it.
