Going into the new year, I want to commit to studying my bible more, and I feel like some sort of guide or devotional type thing would help me. So, I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations of a guide or devotional type book that they like? I would like for it to be something that encouraged/required daily reading and studying of the scriptures. It doesn't HAVE to be geared to women or moms, but I would like for it to be :)
If you know of any free ones that I could find online or download, that would be cool too...but I also don't mind buying something if it looks like it is what I need :) I also have an e-reader, so I would consider an e-book download too.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I would recommend the words of Messiah.

John (Yahchanan) 14:6, "Yahshua proclaimed to him: I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man comes to the Father, except through Me."

Biblestudytools.com has reading plans or Bible.org does, too. Your son is so cute (like his momma). Can't wait for my grandkids, sigh..

Thanks for these suggestions, I'll check them out!
I find several ways to study the bible, ......sometimes I read a column then at the top, sum it up..........then sometimes I find a topic ( there are topical bibles ...and you can research a topic you want to study...........sometimes I read one verse and read what commentaries say about it........sometimes I look up women of the bible and see what to learn from on their lives. what to do and not do in life because of their outcomes. I love reading the entire book such as Ruth. it is a love story but also symbolic about salvation.

It is much better you don't do so-called "women's" Bible studies. It starts with the idea that the Bible is different for men and women, when the foundational truths are for all people.

A book study is excellent, just going through a book verse by verse, learning the background, etc. I have used the Navigator Series and it is excellent. Just make sure it doesn't start with some idea, and wander all over the place. Henry Blackaby has a really good study, Experiencing God.

I highly recommend you stay away from Beth Moore and Joyce Meyer. Moore is totally clueless. No Bible training at all, completely reads her story into it, rather, than taking God's story out of a book study. Joyce Meyers holds many heretical beliefs, like Jesus had to go to hell, and he had to be born again there. A more false lie you cannot get than that.

I think it is great you are looking into a Bible study! That is an excellent way to go.

Blackaby is excellent, I have his vhs tapes from years ago when my mom's church had a class on "experiencing God", I had to quit because of my husband giving me a hard time....long story. over the drama ....lol....I think that man is a godly man
