Bible Prophecy Symbols
Why cloak Bible prophecies in Symbols? And Jesus said, “To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest it is given in parables, that Seeing they may not see, And hearing they may not understand.” Luke 8:10. Many of the apocalyptic prophecies were given while the prophets were in a hostile foreign land. One reason God cloaked the prophecies in symbols was to protect the messages.

Bible Numbers
Many of the numbers in the Bible have deeper prophetic significance. Both in the Old and New Testaments, numbers reveal hidden concepts and meanings that commonly escape the casual reader. And throughout history, men with great minds, like Augustine, Isaac Newton, and Leonardo Di Vinci, showed more than just a passing curiosity regarding the importance of biblical numbers. Once more, Jesus said, “The very hairs of your head are numbered” Matthew 10:30. Obviously, Bible numbers should be carefully considered.

1 – represents absolute singleness and unity (Ephesians 4:4–6; John 17:21-22.) (We presume readers need no more than these two citations, as most of the biblical information regarding unity and singleness is common knowledge.)

2 – represents the truth of God's Word; for example, the law and prophets (John 1:45), two or three witnesses (2 Corinthians 13:1), and a sword with two edges (Hebrews 4:12). See Mark 6:7 and Revelation 11:3. It is also used 21 times in the books of Daniel and Revelation.

3 – represents the Godhead / Trinity. The angels cry “Holy” three times to the triune God (Isaiah 6:3). See also Matthew 28:19 and 1John 5:7-8.

4 – represents universal truth, as in the four directions (north, south, east, west) and the four winds (Matthew 24:31; Revelation 7:1; 20:8). In acts 10:11, a sheet with four corners symbolizes the gospel going to all the gentiles.

5 – represents teaching. First, there are the five books of Moses. Second, Jesus taught about the five wise virgins and used five barley loaves used to feed the 5,000.

6 – represents the worship of man, and is the number of man, signifying his rebellion, imperfection, works, and disobedience. It is used 273 times in the Bible, including its derivatives (e.g, sixth) and another 91 times as “threescore” or “60.” Man was created on the sixth day (Genesis 1:26, 31). See also Exodus 31:15 and Daniel 3:1.
This number is especially significant in the book Revelation, as “666” identifies the beast. “Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six” (Revelation 13:18).

7 – represents perfection, and is the sign of God, divine worship, completions, obedience, and rest. The “prince” of Bible numbers, it is used 562 times, including its derivatives (e.g., seventh, sevens). (See Genesis 2:1–4, Psalms 119:164 and Exodus 20:8–11 for just a few of the examples.)
The number seven is also the most common in biblical prophecy, occurring 42 times in Daniel and Revelation alone. In Revelation there are seven churches, seven spirits, seven golden candlesticks, seven stars, seven lamps, seven seals, seven horns, seven eyes, seven angels, seven trumpets, seven thunders, seven thousand slain in a great earthquake, seven heads, seven crowns, seven last plagues, seven golden vials, seven mountains, and seven kings.

10 – represents law and restoration. Of course, this includes the Ten Commandments found in Exodus 20. See also Matthew 25:1 (ten virgins); Luke 17:17 (ten lepers); Luke 15:8 (healing, ten silver coins).

12 – represents the church and God's authority. Jesus had 12 disciples, and there were 12 tribes of Israel. In Revelation 12:1, the 24 elders and 144,000 are multiples of 12. The New Jerusalem city has 12 foundations, 12 gates 12 thousand furlongs, a tree with 12 kinds of fruit 12 times a year eaten by 12 times 12,000 or the 144,000. (See Revelation 21.)

40 – represents a generation and times of testing. It rained for 40 days during the flood. Moses spent 40 years in the desert, as did the children of Israel. Jesus fasted for 40 days.

50 – represents power and celebration. The Jubilee came after the 49th year (Leviticus 25:10) and Pentecost occurred 50 days after Christ's resurrection (Acts 2).

70 – represents human leadership and judgment. Moses appointed 70 elders (Exodus 24:1); The Sanhedrin was made up of 70 men. Jesus chose 70 disciples (Luke 10:1). Jesus told Peter to forgive 70 times 7.

We are not to put our interpretation into the Bible we are to let the Bible speak to us. If you do not think white is purity then show a text that says it is not, with no comments.

And since white is a symbol of purity have you considered that it could be referring to the preaching of the gospel by the Apostles.
Revelation 2:3
(3) And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.

Colossians 1:5-6
(5) For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;
(6) Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:

The gospel went to all the known world in the Apostles time. Impressive job considering they did not have anywhere near the transport or technology that we have today.

Laodicea, who do you think the horse in Rev 6:2 represents?

And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.

And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.
This is what I believe the 4 horsemen to be:-
■ White Horse: Apostolic Purity & Victory A.D. 31 – A.D. 100
■ Red Horse: Fierce Persecution A.D. 100 – A.D. 313
■ Black Horse: Compromise & Corruption A.D. 313 – A.D. 538
■ Pale Horse: Spiritual Death A.D. 538 – A.D. 1500

These 4 are linked to each other, first the early church conquered they did a good Job of preaching the gospel
In Edward Gibbon'
history at the Decline and Fall at the Roman Empire, chapter 15, paragraph 54, we read, "The progress of Christianity was not confined to the Roman Empire," but "the religion, within a century after the death of its divine Author, had already visited every part of the globe." As to the same historian declared that the Christian congregation in the city of Rome numbered not less than 50,000 and that of Antioch one fifth of the population. The Christian population within the empire alone was estimated at 5, 000, 000. Paul, writing to the church in Rome, said: "I thank my God. “That your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world."

Because of the growth of the early church Satan was not happy so persecution broke out to stop it. (Red Horse)
Revelation 2:10
(10) Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

This did not work so Satan came into the church to corrupt it spiritual darkness. (Black Horse)
Revelation 2:13
(13) I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.

What is the result of being in darkness? Pale, things turn pale
Revelation 2:20
(20) Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest (Permit) that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

These show how Satan will and does work

Interesting, so the first 4 seals in Revelation 6 is already fulfilled but we are now near the end of the 5th seal.

1500 AD - .......... (5th seal)

Next is the 6th seal (The coming of the Lamb)

I do not agree. The white horse in Rev 6:2 represents false Christs, which will spread out after the church is taken out of the world. It is still future. I believe the entire book of Revelation is future.

That is wrong, it is at the last trumpet that the Lord will appear in the sky not the 6th seal.

I think your list is very complete, Laodicea. But I think righteous deeds, for instance, are represented by white linen clothing. All throughout the Bible clothing is symbolic of our deeds I believe. If you're not familiar with this or you disagree I can provide passages. But I'm lazy right now. :p

Nevertheless, well done. I agree with a lot of what you have fleshed out. And I was about to raise the point of the waters being people, but I looked again and you beat me to it. I was expecting you to group water and waters together as the same thing.

The white horse represents the Gospel going in power of the Spirit in the early church.

just previous to the opening of the first seal we see Jesus the lamb who had been slain on the throne of God.

Rev 5:6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.
Rev 5:7 And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.

it is he who takes the seals and opens them.

Rev 5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
Rev 5:10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

Rev 6:1 And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.
Rev 6:2 And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.

if you know anything about how kings were coronated in Israel they first were given the scroll of the law adn history of Israel and then they opened it and read and that made their reign official.

so Jesus has just been coronated in heaven and then begins to open the first seal.

what was happening on earth at this time?

Answer: This would have been the time that penticost took place and the Gospel began to go out with great power.

just after this:

Act 1:7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
Act 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Act 1:9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

Then Jesus is in heaven and receives his coronation in revelation chapter 5 and then opens the first seal. where we see the promise of the power of the Spirit.

Joh 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

This fulfilled at penticost.

Act 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
Act 2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
Act 2:3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
Act 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Then many were converted.

so that's the run-down.

lets look at the seal itself.

Rev 6:1 And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.

The first thing to note here is that where we see the words "come and see" that is not what the text says. it actually simply says "come" which is important. the 1st insinuates that the command is to John to come and witness. the second which is accurate is a command to the hours-man.

Thus we understand that Jesus has just received his coronation and now as King gives command to the horse men.

Rev 6:2 And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.

Now some argue that the white horse is the Antichrist, the first problem with this is that the colour white is always without exception used in regard to Christ or His followers and never to evil forces.

In revelation the colour white is constantly associated to Christ or his people.

Rev 1:14 His head and [his] hairs [were] white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes [were] as a flame of fire;

Rev 2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth [it].

Rev 3:4 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.
Rev 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
Rev 3:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and [that] the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

Rev 4:4 And round about the throne [were] four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.

Rev 6:11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they [were], should be fulfilled.

Rev 7:9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
Rev 7:13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?

Rev 14:14 And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud [one] sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.

Rev 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him [was] called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
Rev 19:14 And the armies [which were] in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

Rev 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

We also see Christ riding on a white horse and also the armies of heaven on white horses.

Now the bow. while the bow is used in the old testament with enemies it is also used for God.
The scriptures that inspire this imagery are from:

Hab 3:8 Was the LORD displeased against the rivers? [was] thine anger against the rivers? [was] thy wrath against the sea, that thou didst ride upon thine horses [and] thy chariots of salvation?
Hab 3:9 Thy bow was made quite naked, [according] to the oaths of the tribes, [even thy] word. Selah. Thou didst cleave the earth with rivers.

Psa 45:3 Gird thy sword upon [thy] thigh, O [most] mighty, with thy glory and thy majesty.
Psa 45:4 And in thy majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness [and] righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things.
Psa 45:5 Thine arrows [are] sharp in the heart of the king's enemies; [whereby] the people fall under thee.

here we have old testament portrayals of God riding a horse with a bow. so not new idea.
notice Psalms matches revelation.

Rev 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him [was] called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
Rev 19:12 His eyes [were] as a flame of fire, and on his head [were] many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.

notice also that he wore a crown. This word crown here is stephanos which means victory. this is the crown that the winners of the Olympic games in Rome would gain.

This crown is always used in reference to either Christ or His people. with one exception. the exception is:

Rev 9:7 And the shapes of the locusts [were] like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads [were] as it were crowns like gold, and their faces [were] as the faces of men.

but this is only an allusion. "as it were" means that it appears as if they have crowns of victory but in fact do not. in other words this group of locusts only appear to be winning.

but everywhere that this crown is actually real it is in reference to Christ or Gods people.

Rev 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast [some] of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

Rev 3:11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown

Rev 4:4 And round about the throne [were] four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.
Rev 4:10 The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,

Rev 12:1 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:

Rev 14:14 And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud [one] sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle

Paul spoke of this crown that we receive for giving the Gospel.

1Co 9:23 And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with [you].
1Co 9:24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
1Co 9:25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they [do it] to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
1Co 9:26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
1Co 9:27 But I keep under my body, and bring [it] into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

We share the good news of Jesus Christ for an incorruptible crown.

so lets go over this in short:

Rev 6:2 And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.

1: White only a symbol for Christ and his people

2: horse is used with Christ especially a white one.

3: The bow is also used for Christ when riding a horse in old testament.

4: Crown of victory is only used For Christ and his people

5: the time period fits with the success of the Gospel during the early church just after Christ was corinated in heaven.

The evidence is overwhelmingly on the side of the first seal being the success of The Gospel in the early church through the power of the Holy Spirit.

blessings.

This does not make sense, because the book of Revelation is for the saints who are with Jesus,to understand the future and not be deceived by the coming beast system.

The above says that it is in symbols,as if parables,so those who are not given to know the mysteries of God would not be able to understand the book of Revelation.

But the book of Revelation is for the saints so there should be no parables, for it is given to them to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God plainly.

So the symbols in the book of Revelation, since it is given to the saints, should not be too hard to understand for the saints.

I think a person can figure out what those symbols represent by the meaning that is being conveyed by the scriptures overall.

When the Bible says Jesus comes riding on a horse,I do not think He is coming on a weak and lazy animal like the sloth, and we know horses are brave that they run in to battle, and shows Jesus coming in power to battle.

When the Bible says beast in Revelation,it tells the story of why it is called the beast, because of it's terribleness to deceive the world and lead it away from the truth, and cruel.

It is not hard to figure out what the symbols are by the story that the scriptures tell.

But the list could be helpful to people but it seems like you can figure out the symbol,or have a fair idea of what it is,by the story and meaning the scriptures are telling that the symbol is associated with.

10 When he was alone, the Twelve and the others around him asked him about the parables. 11 He told them, “The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables 12 so that,
“‘they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding; otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!

what he is speaking about here is another layer of reality that is going on around us all the time. in order to be come aware of this you must repent and ask Jesus for help. it will then unfold in front of you and will lead you to follow with faith. as children we are aware of it and see it. as we get older and begin to pursue our own desires we lose track of it. it in itself doesn't go away. when you repent you can become aware of it again. you should want forgiveness for your sins because what we have done is wrong. blessed are the pure of heart for they shall see the kingdom of God.

think of it like one of those 3-d posters in the mall. it doesn't look like anything and then if you look at it just right, it clicks into place and you see the picture. the picture was already there and had been the whole time. so it is with the kingdom. the only way it will click into place for you is with Jesus helping. you have to have faith you will see the picture. how much more valuable doe the picture become when you can finally see it. imagine something you lost as a child showing back up in your life as an adult. you understand the value of it far more now than you did as a child.

every story you read, every song you sing, every show you watch, is in fact a parable. like many pieces of a puzzle they will come together to form a larger picture. it is the work of the holy trinity that makes this come together. you can call them rain drops, pebbles or seeds, but it amounts to the same thing. then you will see how those things serve God. we spend our whole lives in an ocean of Gods love we forget that we are even wet.

the symbolism of this word being that word could be different for each person, as the Holy Spirit guides that person on an individual level.the same could be said for the number aspect of it. again once the Holy Spirit is involved it becomes a very personal lesson on an individual level. until you repent and ask Jesus for help, i'm not sure if its possible for someone to make sense of any of it. the only way to heaven is through Jesus. Jesus can make all roads lead to him if you would but repent and ask for help. it is when you see everything bend in such a way that you need to forget what you think you know and follow with faith. i cannot show it to you only Jesus can do that. all i can do is witness to the fact that the bible is true and Jesus is the son of God. it is the greatest story ever told and it is right there in front of us all, everyday, waiting to make us a part of it.

The best description of four horsemen is they are all belief systems. Red is color of communism black is capitalism white is catholisism and pale(green) is islam. Look up end of the age ministries and find four horsemen teaching. It really makes perfect sense the way he puts scripturr and historical facts together.
