How do "they" account for the 597 years between the end of Eliakim's reign and Jesus.

The reason I ask is that if you assume, and I do, that the 70 weeks in Daniel 9 is 490 years then where does the 107 extra years come from. I am forming a timeline and I can easily get to Solomon with 3146 years. I am trying to struggle through the Kings of Israel and Judah and have come up with about 3550. If you add the 70 years of the exile in Babylon, you get 3620. Then you add the 490 years of Daniel 9 (70weeks of the Sabbath of the Land Lev. 35:8-10) you get only 4110. If I understand the prophecy then Jesus would be crucified before the end of the 490 years. I know it probably seems trivial, but it is something I've been working on. If you know what I'm missing, let me know.

Well that's a good question, Timeline. I would love to help but I don't know.

Well, Timeline, I think that looking into such trivial things is a waste of time.

Hi Timeline,

I have to save you from having to resort to talking to yourself. :)

I have a book, written by a man called Dr Floyd Nolan-Jones, it is entitled, 'The Chronology of the Old Testament'. You can find it online in PDF to download. It is very good, and does deal with this subject.

However, if you would like me to find what it has to say on the subject in question I will look it up for you. Would you like that, Timeline?

With kind regards
In Christ Jesus
Chris

No you don't need to look it up for me. Does it use the bible as reference or does it stick to man's history? Thank you for responding.

Hello again, Timeline,

It is not trivial. It is important to you.

One thing I have noticed, is that you are working forward in your deductions, whereas I remember from reading this book (some time ago now) that Dr Floyd Nolan Jones says that we should work backwards, and not forward.

The best thing would be to look at the book, it really is very good. Here is a link:-

http://www.ntslibrary.com/PDF Books II/Jones - Chronology of the OT.pdf

It is solidly Bible based.

Nehemiah and Ezra give a little insight to the years as applied unto the 70 weeks and especially the 70th week of Daniel

Daniel teaches...

sets forth there is to be 70 years of Babylonian Captivity were about to be fulfilled..
Verse 24-->God is yet to deal with Israel for another 70 weeks (490 years) 70 times 7
Verse 25-->From command to restore and rebuild Jerusalem unto the Messiah which is to be 69 weeks (483) years
This was fulfilled at the Baptism and recognition of Jesus by the Father
To understand the (62) weeks of verse 26 you must study Ezra and Nehemiah
There is a period of about 52.5 years between the First Command and the Completion in verse 26
After the 483 years and Jesus identified as the Messiah by John at Jesus' Baptism
434 years after the rebuilding of the Temple the Messiah shall be cut off (Crucifixion)
The people of the prince that shall come (Titus) destroyed Jerusalem in 70 A.D.
The 490 years (70 weeks) were put on hold (if you will) after the 486 years which leaves 1290 days left to complete the 490 years

NOTE ABOVE 434+52.5=486.5<-----3.5 years left to wrath when it starts with the opening of the 1st seal! Israel goes by a 360 day year and adds a 13 month every few years to make up the discrepancy between the Jewish and Roman calendars.

The people of the prince that shall come (the Romans---this prince shall be a Roman) Acts reveals that Paul was a Roman)

The 3.5 years after the crucifixion, there is no time gap.
