LOL!!! You had the same question I had

Things go over my head so easily though, Im comforted by your confusion LOL!!
im still thinking of this. the bible says the 2nd guy (old man) was a prophet.
but why did the 2nd guy lie? why would he want to trick him? did our Lord send a lying spirit to the 2nd prophet?
they were both prophets so i think this would explain why he wanted to be buried next to him. poor guy may have thought he got the 1st guy killed.
the bible is so much fun. i have learned so much yet so much is a mystery.

If one does not believe in Ghost, how can one believe in the Holy Spirit? God is Almighty, and as well a Spirit. I do not believe that God requires a spirit beside him. If God created the mankind, the earth and everything in it by itself, what purpose does a Holy Spirit serve? Is God not powerful enough to govern everything by "him"self

Thats what is throwing me, that an old prophet would get up and chase down a man of God (knowing his words to the king) just to test him again with the same thing (but as through another man of God) claiming an angel of God spoke to him overthrowing his first charge given of the LORD.

How can I say it was a true prophet when he lied? But through it the word of the LORD come through him to rebuke him for doing wrong like that.

Who was deceived really?

Obviously speaking lies is wrong (so you could say the one who spoke them was deceived) but he seemed like more of a test to the man of God who delivered the correct word and performed the correct action (at the first) with a King, but he missed the boat on the prophet even though he at first declined (as he should have).

I was thinking bout that since it speaks of the LORD proving you through false prophets even, just to see if you love him and will cleave to him. Just that particular example in the thing we are looking at doesnt really match perfectly

Duet 13:1 If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder,

And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them;

Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.

And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of the way which the LORD thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee.

If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;

Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth;

Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him:

But then this one,

Ezek 14:9And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the LORD have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.

The latter is closer in speaking a thing, but the one who lied in that case to deceive the man of God wasnt destroyed but rather the man of God who screwed up

This one was a little difficult to figure and I love this sort of thing

Question: "What is the difference between the Holy Spirit and Holy Ghost?"

Answer:
Of the modern English translations of the Bible, it is only the King James Version of the Bible which uses the term “Holy Ghost.” It occurs 90 times in the KJV. The term “Holy Spirit” occurs 7 times in the KJV. There is no clear reason as to why the KJV translators used Ghost in most places and then Spirit in a few. The exact same Greek and Hebrew words are translated "ghost" and "spirit" in the KJV in different occurrences of the words. By "ghost," the KJV translators did not intend to communicate the idea of "the spirit of a deceased person." In 1611, when the KJV was originally translated, the word "ghost" primarily referred to "an immaterial being." http://www.gotquestions.org/Holy-Spirit-Ghost.html

Hello Breanna,

When Jesus was casting out demons, the Pharisees and the teachers of the law said that he was driving them out by the prince of demons, Beelzaboul, which is another designation for Satan. Since Jesus was driving those unclean spirits out through the Holy Spirit, by them saying that it was through Beelzaboul, they were calling the Holy Spirit unclean. Therefore, in order for you to commit this same unforgiveable sin, you would also have to do the same thing that the Pharisee and teachers did. The fact that you are concerned about it demonstrates that the Spirit of God is still with you, for it is God who grants us the ability to repent and he is also the One who gives us a measure of faith.

Cheer up and dry your eyes! Confess it and believe that God has forgiven you, because His word says he will. If you need to talk I am here on this site a lot. I will pray that God's peace which transcends all understanding will rest upon you.

What he said. The fact that it concerns you means you didn't do it. Someone who truly had wouldn't care.

Think of Christ on the cross - My God why have You forsaken Me? Jesus knew God hadn't forsaken Him. He just knew and identified that there would be others who momentarily in pain and weakness wonder about it.

I'm looking forward to meeting you in heaven!

so would there be a way to test such a thing? claiming a miracle of the Holy Spirit to be of demons is Blasphemy and unforgivable. but what if satan was masquerading as an angel and doing miracles and claiming they were of the Father. is there a way to test such a thing? you wouldnt want to be wrong!
I would say wouldn’t want to be wrong with no grace needed turn us towards Him to repent if we do deny him in unbelief..

According to 1 John 2: 27-28, in speaking of the methodology of the antichrist singular which is Satan who influence men as antichrists (plural) in respect to the father of lies who has no form trying to seduce the believer to believe they do need a man to teach us as that which the Holy Spirit not seen did promise he would perform in us giving us His comfort, as the peace of God that surpasses our human understanding. ..

We are to try the spirits to see if they are of men, seen the temporal, or of God not seen the eternal .

This is seeing the antichrist was already there, I believe as a result of the first century reformation where men no longer looked to the flesh of a Jew in regard to Christ coming in the fullness of time, the time of the reformation... fulfilling that shadow in respect to an outward Jew that pointed toward his invisible presence, again up until the reformation.

The father of lies who turn things upside down as if the work of the Potter, the clay provided the understanding as of faith of God . Turning it upside down by making it our faith we offer toward God .This is something God call a dead work seeing it is offered toward Him and not a generated from His towards us called faith a belief belonging to Christ.. The law of faith in respect to the faith of Christ that works towards us cannot be given to man, if it comes from God.

The loving commandment below that God uses as that to protect his own self from false worship . The first commandment is to have no gods before our living God if so it is recognized as blaspheme if you follow the conclusion in verse 7.

Seeing some men were attributing the faith or work that comes from hearing God to men therefore making gods they can have before him in the likeness of men. .

Jam 2:1 My brethren, have not the “faith of” our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.

Jam 2:7 Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?

We can see the result of that in a few place where Satan does get his foothold in the door as the things of men (oral traditions)that in the end of the matter does offend the things of God. (His written tradition the Bible).
Act 14:11 And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men.
They violated the loving commandment (James 2) because they attributed the work to men as gods in the likeness of men and therefore were not walking by the faith of Christ, the Lord of glory.

The spirit of the antichrist, the spirit of error is shown even working in Peter exposing him as a false prophet who did learn what it means to try the spirits to see if they are of God or men influenced by the father of lies. A clear distinction between the things of men which offend God and those generated by or of God must be made if we are to hear God by faith aright
Mat 16:22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the “things that be of God”, but “those that be of men”

.With Emanuel (God with us and not God is us) it is possible to try the spirits .... without the hearing His voice no man could believe God.

1John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world..

Well, the KJV was originally translated in 1611 used the "Holy Spirit" in one passage and the "holy spirit" is also only used once while the "holy Spirit" is used five times.

If one can not see clearly the reason, then they probably can neither see that there is not one verse that uses "Ghost" in the KJV, but rather it uses 'ghost'. [2 Cor 4:3] But then again, look at the translations of 1 John 5:7

**************
1 John 5:7
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
King James Version

**************
Since it is written in Matthew 28:19, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost."

What is the name of the Father?
What is the name of the Son?
What is the name of the Holy Ghost?

*************

Then again, see if the translations replacing the Holy Ghost with the Holy Spirit are consistent or do they stumble upon themselves. Take John 7:39 for example;

NKJV
But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
-------------
NIV
By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.
---------------
NRSV
Now he said this about the Spirit, which believers in him were to receive; for as yet there was no Spirit,] because Jesus was not yet glorified.
-----------
