Does anyone really believe that there is a book of life?

It is said that it is written about in the book of knowledge of good and evil. I wonder if one reads the book of knowledge of good and evil if they really can hear the serpent speak to them?

Greetings Zmouth,

Why would the existence of the book of life even be questionable?

Regarding the book of life we have Moses saying the following:

"So Moses went back to the Lord and said, “Oh, what a great sin these people have committed! They have made themselves gods of gold. But now, please forgive their sin—but if not, then blot me out of the book you have written.

We have king David saying the following:

"
May they be blotted out of the book of life and not be listed with the righteous."

After Jesus sent out the seventy, having returned, we have Jesus telling them the following:

"
Nevertheless, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven."

We also have the following:

"
And all who dwell on the earth will worship the beast--all whose names have not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slain."

"The inhabitants of the earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the creation of the world will be astonished when they see the beast, because he once was, now is not, and yet will come.

"And if anyone was found whose name was not written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire."

Since the book of life is consistently mentioned throughout scripture, it would be a good indicator that it does exist as literal book. And the fact that, since scripture states that the names of the saved were written in the book of life before the world even began, then there would be no reason to believe otherwise. That would be like some who say that the new Jerusalem is not a real city.

Good question. I would say for the same reason the person reads the book of knowledge of good and evil and doesn't perceive what tree they are eating from.

Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these. John 1:50
