So many Christians claim things which can technically be found in the Bible if you twist it hard enough, but if you look at the context of what they have claimed they claim things (because the context includes more than just what they claim) that are most definitely anti-biblical.
For example:
I had someone claim that Paul says that the gift of Tongues ceased when the Bible was finished being written. The passage he used was:
"But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away."(Romans 13:8-10)
Now it does say that tongues would cease. . .WHEN "that which is perfect has come". He claimed that "perfect" was the Bible, which we know to be God's Word. BUT take a look at what is included in that passage. . .in claiming what he did he also must be claiming that when the bible was finished being written that prophecies would fail and knowledge would cease. The problem with that is that there are prophecies in the bible that have not yet been fulfilled and so if they fail as he is claiming by inclusive context then the bible would be no longer perfect and then could not be the "perfect" claimed here.
This is one small example of many. People I urge you to make sure that what you are claiming is indeed biblical and not just something you want to be true. Too many who claim Christ use the Bible to prove that which they think and believe, instead of allowing the Bible and the Holy Spirit to teach them what to think and believe. The Bible is not a buffet table where you can pick and choose what you like and still claim to believe in the Bible, the Bible is either all true or all a lie.
