1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;
7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:
8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;
9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

10 But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.
11 Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.
12 But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;
13 And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;

14 Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:
15 Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;
16 But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet.

17 These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.
18 For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.
19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.
20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

A powerful mesage from God by our brother Peter. Thank God NO SIN is more powerful than God! God rules over ALL sin, in ALL WHO WANTS TO RULE WITH HIM!

Just look how Lot VEXED the trighteousness of God that he did not become part of the sin. No matter haw hard Oprah, and the GAY-RIGHTS society presses for gay rights, it will ALWAYS be an abomination before God! Like any SIN, if it is not layed down (repented) from, it will take you to hell! God hates sin, and he loves a sinner so much, that He will save the sinner to also VEX His righteousness in the sinner! Then the sinner is not a sinner, but a saved sinner. Saved from sin for His righteousness.

Salvation, is a SAVED HOLY PERSON, becasue of God's Love and power! Even if the whole world is doomed, God's righteouss people CANNOT die in sin! Why? Becasue God saved them FROM sin!

Today Cobus, I feel weary. I feel lost and weary. If there is a rest for me to enter into, I need it now. I need to enter into his rest, so that I can get strength.

Not to enter into idleness, but into his rest. Which is a safe place.

Jesus made me a promise that the world would hate me for his name's sake. I cannot complain, because I asked him to let me carry that cross so I could understand what he really went through, else I could not truly know of his salvation.

But what is in-between is my very soul. I am purely at the mercy of God. Is my spirit willing? IF ONLY YOU KNEW HOW WEAK MY FLESH REALLY IS!!!!!

It is a very real fight, and if I don't find some relief, I will faint. The shelter of the almighty is where I want to be.

Everyone was effected by the drought in the days of Elijah.

May Jesus bless you.

The false prophets and teachers came from among the church.
Acts 20:29-30
(29) For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.
(30) Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.

Ramon, you need to remember that all streangth comes form Jesus.
That the truth, is spoken as a seed, that it is God that makes it grow. :)
If one is discouraged, they have forgotten that we are simply children, that all care , life, streangth, conviction, salvation and love comes in Jesus from God Our Father,His gift through faith, given through His Holy Spirit.
To rest, is to believe and know that all! the work and the outcome is of Jesus! Of God!
We are simply children, God is the Father, the Lord, all is by His hand, done in His understanding.
Trust all that you do, is done in faith to His care, for Jesus is the bringer of all things, God Our Father the plan, the Holy Spirit the power.
You are not responcible if the witness is rejected.
One is simply called to witness, the rest is done in Jesus!!!

God bless.

[/QUOTE]Hang in there Ramon. With this joy comes sadness as well. We are sad because we live in this world and we dont belong to it.

We know from the scriptures that it is not going to be a happy outcome for everybody, and this makes us sad It's like that little book John ate...it was sweet to taste but bitter in his belly. Some christians just want their ears tickled, and some want the bitter truth. If we quote God's scriptures and warn people to smarten up their acts then we get classed as trouble makers. If we tell them nice things, then they will love us. There is nothing wrong with encouraging each other, but whatever the spirit moves us to say whether it be comforting or a good telling off, it is all for our benefit. No one should get offended with anything that the Lord says. Every word that he speaks is precious and for our edification. Every word is truth.

I just want to say that I've seen a change in you. You are more humble and gracious than when you first came on. You appear to be maturing, I can see that your eyes are being opened up more and more. You are gentle and I love that. I dont necessarily agree with all your posts, but I know where you are coming from, what you are trying to say, and some of your other posts I love, like this one, and I say to myself, yes yes he can see it now.....

so if you feel tired and are craving for that rest, you are not alone. I feel like that myself, and my biggest enemy is me sometimes. I beat myself up more than anybody ever can! I need a rest from me!

Take care Ramon, May the Lord lift your spirit and let his light shine through you no matter what happens. I have this opportunity to now say back to you,.... May Jesus bless you.

Hi Cobus

I noticed from your profile that your favorite verse is from John's letter "Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God."

I can see from your posts that you believe that a true believer does not sin.

I appreciate your zeal, but that verse (if it is a life verse) can put incredible stress on believers. Many young believers will believe that they are not saved if they fail God by succumbing to sin.

Let us compare scripture. John also wrote in his letter 1 John 2:1-2:

1 John 2
"My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins"

John clearly is not saying that a Christian will never sin. He is actually stating that the "born again spirit" does not sin. We are made up of body, soul and spirit. The spirit part of us is what died in the garden of Eden. Ephesians 2 says "we who were dead in trespassies and sins, Christ has made alive". ie the spirit that had died has been made alive. This is why Paul states that there is a battle going on inside us. The flesh (sinful nature of the soul) tends towards sin, but the part of us made in the image of God (with the help of the Holy Spirit) leads us away from sin.

However, if we fail (and we will) within our maturing stages, the blood of Jesus continues to cleanse us from sin. The believer DOES NOT habitually/willingly continue in sin because he is born again, whereas the unsaved habitually and willingly sin without regrets or conscience.

On another thread you asked for eveidence if Paul ever sinned. I could suggest his arrogance towards Mark and Barnabus may have been a sin when he rejected Mark and then there was a time when he confessed that he did wrong in Acts 23:

" Then Paul said to him, “God will strike you, you whitewashed wall! You sit there to judge me according to the law, yet you yourself violate the law by commanding that I be struck!” Those who were standing near Paul said, “You dare to insult God’s high priest?” Paul replied, “Brothers, I did not realize that he was the high priest; for it is written: ‘Do not speak evil about the ruler of your people.’”.

Okay , Paul may have sinned in ignorance, but it was still a sin, which he acknowledged.

Here is what Paul had to say about himself in 1 Corinthians 4:4

" My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent. It is the Lord who judges me"

Paul was only too well aware that he was in a spiritual battle against sin, but he also knew that it was the Holy Spirit who enabled him to conquer.

The first few verses reminds me of Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons. They are some of the biggest false prophets, who claim to be some form of Christianity. Their doctrines are against the Bible and deny the Lord.

Jehovah Witnesses are external to the church. The passage quoted is related to those who are participating within the true body of Christ. Word of Faith preachers/teachers fulfil that prophecy to the letter.

verse 3 "And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you"

Also Word of Faith DO deny Jesus because they teach that the cross of Jesus was not enough to atone for sin. They teach that Jesus needed to be "born again" in hell before He could redeem us. They teach many other terrible heresies.

why indeed?

have you laid all your burdens upon the throne of Christ?

Do you carry a lie and think it truth and allow the lie to bind you and enslave you?

Do you not have enough faith or trust in God's promises?

whatever the answer the solution is to PRAY and Ask God to aid you for one of the Fruits of the Spirit is NOT Sorrow and depression but JOY and LOVE and PEACE!

Jesus says we shall NEVER thirst if we drink of His living water.

Do you believe in your heart or is it just empty words you speak?

John 7:37-39
New King James Version (NKJV)
37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” 39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing[a] in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

Satan seeks to devour and divide any who will believe his lies. the wolf would separate a stray sheep and tell it not to come back into the fold but wander alone seeking greener pastures.

Matthew 11:29-30
New King James Version (NKJV)
29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
