I always thought God was walking around in the beginning.... Maybe even Jesus until this line occurred. "At that time people began to call on the name of the LORD." Because God could not dwell with sin for long and the nephilim and all the fun stuff occurred around that time he stopped physically? being there. Idk I wasn't there. :p

Cain probably watched Abel give his offering and tried to do the same. He didn't understand the meaning of the offering. He wasn't in trouble for it. Just God preferred Abel's offering.
