Vernon, either you are not a Christian or you are a Christian who is confused. Let us see what Jesus thinks about the subject and what love is according to God who is love as well as other things. Also your argument against the canon of the Bible as we have it today is refuted by Josh McDowell in his book Evidence That Demands A Verdict as well as the Case for Christ by Lee Strobel. He also has others that give evidence for the Christian faith which one really should consider before they accept or reject God in their hearts. These books continue what he started in the first book. They are called More Evidence That Demands A Verdict and New Evidence That Demands A Verdict.
Matthew 19:4-6
Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
Mark 10:6-9
“But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’ ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
Genesis 2:18, 20b-24
The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”... But for Adam no suitable helper was found. So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.The man said,
“This is now bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called ‘woman,’
for she was taken out of man.”
That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.
As for you going against Scripture, this passage lovingly speaks out against you.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
All Scripture means both the Old and New Testaments.
We are not picking and choosing what we believe, it is you who is upholding this heresy and cherry-picking what you want. Our other response to you is found in Acts.
Acts 5:29
We must obey God rather than men!
As for God's definition for love it is found in 1 Corinthians 13 as well as in the words of Jesus in the gospels
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
Repent of your sins and accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and sovereign Lord, that he died on the cross for your sins, and rose from the dead on the third day. Follow Jesus do not follow the world and its false teachings. When God says something is wrong in both the Old and the New Testaments it is wrong no matter what culture, society, and/ or your wicked and deceitful heart says. God bless. Have a beautiful day!
